The weeks of Mizzle Month and Dark Days 204 were a period of change
and disaster for the land of Norandor. One king died, a regent came
and went, and a new king ascended to the throne at the same moment
a terrible war against the Undead began in the northlands. Historians
looking back years later refer to this period as The Great Upheavel,
as it changed Norandor forever.
Stepping outside Iourn for a moment, this was also the most confusing
part of the game to GM and probably to play. The tale was told over
six adventures in four different campaigns between 27 April and
4 December 2002. Ten different players controlled twenty-four different
player characters (mostly de Chesirés)! And if that wasn't
complicated enough, the games weren't run in chronological order.
A sequential timeline of these events has never been brought together.
Until now....
This section of the site correlates and re-presents key events
of The War of the
Norandon Succession, The
Rising Tide, The
Fist of Maglubiyet, The
Gauntlet of Rammon Cha, The
Painted Lady and The
Horn of Deliverance. It also includes new information that you
will not find elsewhere. Hopefully by the end you will be somewhat
clearer on what is transpiring in everyone's favourite kingdom.
Although this is a definitive timeline, the story isn't over yet!
The ride of the Twelve against Sarakite and further adventures of
Brack, Nicos and Arvan that wind in and out of the Path Perfidious
campaign have yet to be added. As this page is absorbed into the
new Timeline section all these events will be added.

and Timberlake, and an allied goblin army is heading toward the
Village of the Eighteen Churches.

to spread the warning. They rest for the evening before pressing
on to Uris.
- Kak heads to Oakholme to warm them of the danger.

moments after the death of King Yaddagon. They report the tale
of the rise of the undead and goblin armies to the new regent
(Raza), Archnecrotain Varamil, Tarex and Invigilant-General Elgarth.
- After discussion with Alberdark, Raza orders Salamar to return
and carry orders to the garrisons in Northmeet and the Village.
Then he is to head to Timberlake, get Niergan, and use the dwarven
ambassador to get help from the dwarves of Underbarren.
- Orders are also sent to raise a force of 10,000 men and begin
sending it north to help Northmeet and Timberlake. However, this
will take time.
- As these discussions are taking place, Kak and Jass arrive in
Oakholme and warn Squire Osroth of the situation. With the help
of a group of adventurers they empty Oakholme and lead the towns
people east on the two-day walk to Northmeet.
- Late in the evening Salamar and Balthasar teleport to Northmeet.

the defence of the Village is left in the hands of Sir Vergen
of the Order of the Roaring Lion and General Matlo Surrigan of
the Church of Contention.
- In Uris, Great Druid Morgase Esseni sends word to Arvand that
the Order cannot help him against Mínaris. They must move
against the undead.
- At lunchtime the four Shadows, Bronx and Torgellias arrive in
the Village. They report to Salamar that Jass is missing.
- At midday Nicos meets with Maynard, Rothsman, Lodrath, Boudewijn
and Rio at the Raithbourne townhouse. A plan is laid for him to
take Tarrashar's power as the Firewalker. Rothsman and Maynard
leave to arrange it. Rio gives Nicos her belt of nondetection.
- In the evening Salamar's group (including Methulselah and Elly)
teleports to Timberlake, collects Niergan and presses onto to
Underbarren. They defeat a demon of the pit, encounter the goblin
Vigrek and speak with King Kontüf.
- Vigrek, a goblin priest of Bargrivyek, reveals an army of 10,000
goblins are heading north from the Pass of Elske to the Village.
They are the Stoneheart clan commanded by Malificent, Blathgan
Dwarfbane, and will arrive in four days!
- By the end of the day, The Village of the Eighteen Churches
is cut off from Northmeet to the south by a tide of undead. But
the undead are heading to Northmeet and not the Village.
- Late on this night the force of Shadows sent from the Village
arrive in Northmeet.
- Kak, Jass and all of Oakholme encounter a force of a 1000 undead
from the Wraith Haunt under the spectre, Rammon Cha. He wants

and a huge fight ensues in which a third of the inhabitants of
Oakholme are killed.
Vítday, 22 Mizzle Month 204
- Salamar and his party conduct a debate with King Kontuf. He
agrees to raise an army to aid the Men of the Village against
the goblins, if the party remove his demon problem.
- Kak's group and the surviving inhabitants of Oakholme make it
to Northmeet, joining a throng of people queuing to get into the
city. They have fought their way through the undead vanguard just
in the nick of time.
- News reaches Uris that Galahyde's 15,000 strong army are making
for the capital.
Terday, 23 Mizzle Month 204
- In the evening Salamar's group discover the device that summoned
the demon they fought from some hellish dimension. The device
is protected by Smerl, the Once Dwarf - a powerful vampire. They
defeat Smerl, and deactivate the device by removing the source
of its power - a mysterious glowing golden baby.
- Meanwhile Aldric Kurst meets the Chosen in Uris. He tells them
of the Vathek Stone, thus giving them the clue they need to stand
against Mínaris. Kurst then leaves saying he has business
to the north.
- The first troops leave Uris for Northmeet.
- A great undead force surrounds Northmeet and begins a continuous
assault on the walls.
Zephday, 24 Mizzle Month 204
- Ellyboodle and Torgellias hunt down and slay the sleeping vampire,
Smerl.
- King Kontüf agrees to send 5000 dwarves to help the village,
but it will take several days to raise such an army.
- Salamar takes possession of the golden child. He, Ellyboodle,
Torgellias, Bronx, Methusaleh and Balthasar return to the Village
of the Eighteen Churches to help as best they can. Balthasar rejoins
the Arcanum Incognita.
- This is the second day of the siege of Northmeet.
Caladay, 25 Mizzle Month 204
- By this date huge barricades have been erected around the Village.
- As the defences are marshalled Ellyboodle steals the golden
child and makes a run for it pursued by Salamar and Methusaleh
de Chesiré.
- As the pair pursue Elly to the south, the goblin force attacks
the Village form the north. Salamar returns to the Village, Methusaleh
continues after Elly.
- A battle between the defenders and goblins are fought. The goblins
are repulsed with much loss of life on both sides.
- Elsewhere, Tarrashar and Mínaris have a conversation
that the Chosen of Narramac are not privy to.
- This is the third day of the siege of Northmeet. Many refugees
trying to enter the city are devoured by the undead and turned
into zombies to fuel the attack.
Sharday, 26 Mizzle Month 204
- At dawn an army of 5000 dwarves go through the secret ways from
Underbarren to the Village to stop the goblins. It is a six day
journey.
- At the Village the shamans of King Blathgan Dwarfbane summon
dark creatures to throw against the Village's defences. A force
of paladins under Sir Vergen rides out to meet the threat. Sir
Vergen is killed, and the goblins are only driven back by the
light of dawn.
- This is the fourth day of the Siege of Northmeet. A rota system
is made for the city's defenders, but how can they fight 28 hours
per day?
- An army of druids and their forest allies intercept an army
of undead when it is just one day from Timberlake. A great battle
begins around the abandoned village of Harton Moor.
Morday, 27 Mizzle Month 204
- The goblins break through into the Village by sheer weight of
numbers. There are battles in the streets and a number of innocents
are killed.
An assault on the Citadel of the Arcanum Incognita unleashes the
magic held within and the goblins flee in disarray.
- This is the fourth day of the Siege of Northmeet. People are
terrified and every night wraiths slip through the barricade and
create scores of their kind inside the city so the defenders must
fight on two fronts. The priests of Calafax patrol the walls,
but in the dark of Vítaeous all hope seems lost.
- In Uris, the Enclave and the Council rise for the funeral of
King Yaddagon.
- This is the fifth day of the Siege of Northmeet.
- This is the second day of the Battle of Harton Moor. A force
of 700 druids is facing an army of undead twenty times the size.
They dig in and hold the line.
Sunday, 28 Mizzle Month 204
- Kontüf's 5000 dwarves pass beneath the Mithril Vale. In
the Chasm of Gulganesh they face hundred of wraiths, wights and
other foul creatures. A great battle ensues.
- The Village defences are breeched again. This time there is
no holding back the goblins. The Village of the Eighteen Churches
falls! Hundreds are massacred by the Stonehearts. The surviving
warriors and priests pull out into the wilderness. The Arcanum
Incognita remain. They are safe, but trapped inside their citadel.
- Galahyde the Black's army passes Hillcrest unopposed. Now nothing
can stop him from arriving in the capital and taking control.
- This is the sixth day of the siege of Northmeet.
- The third day of the Battle of Horton. The druids have lost
over half their numbers including some members of the Inner Circle.
Great Druid Morgase Esseni is horribly violated by a dark spirit
called The Esper. Troops and clerics of the Sylvani Faith arrive
from Timberlake to give some relief.
Vítday, 29 Mizzle Month 204
- The goblins despoil The Village, destroying everything they
can lay their hands on. Any humans that remain are brutalised
in unspeakable ways.
- The dwarves fight their way out of the Chasm of Gulganesh and
onto the plains. They have lost a fifth of their number in the
battle. They force march toward the Village.
- This is the seventh day of the siege of Northmeet.
- The fourth day of the Battle of Harton Moor. The druids and
their unwelcome allies are now completely besieged. There seems
no escape. Undead are now starting to get past toward Timberlake.
Terday, 30 Mizzle Month 204
- The goblins in the Village turn south to Northmeet.
- This is the eighth day of the siege of Northmeet.
- The first undead begin to arrive at Timberlake after having
been delayed by the druids.
- It is the fifth and final day of the Battle of Horton. The druids
and allies are completely surrounded by the undead and wiped out.
Only about fifty survive (including Jelanie and Morgase) using
their wildshape and transport via plants abilities to leave the
area. Archdruid Glipson is among the last to fall.
Zephday, 31 Mizzle Month 204
- Duke Colharn and a force of 200 men arrive back in the Northmeet
area to find his city besieged by more than 20,000 undead creatures.
The undead attack the city continuously. Those fallen are raised
as more zombies. Northmeet faces war on all fronts and a self-replenishing
army that they cannot seem to stop.
- Archnecrotain Selvin is a weak man compared to Varamil, he does
not know what to do next. Colharn is in contact with his archmage,
Quelator, and decides to wait for reinforcements before going
any further.
- The Arcanum Incognita in the Village summon the surviving members
of the clergy back to the fold. Word is sent to Quelator of the
goblin's movements but nothing can be done to stop them.
- This is the ninth day of the siege of Northmeet, and by now
food and fresh water are running very low.
- The main force of undead arrive at Timberlake. This is the first
day of the siege there. Slightly larger than Northmeet and with
more room for refugees, Timberlake is nonetheless at the bottom
of a hole, and thus vulnerable to attack. But the attacking force
is almost exclusively made up of corporeal undead. They are held
by the barricades.
Caladay, 32 Mizzle Month 204
- This is the tenth day of the siege of Northmeet.
- The 6000 surviving goblins that attacked the Village arrive
from the north to bolster the undead with their numbers and dark
magic. Things look bleak for Northmeet.
- The second day of the siege of Timberlake. The defences still
hold, though barely.
- In Uris - Lodrath, Rothsman and Maynard conduct a ritual to
steal the powers of the Firewalker from Tarrashar and give them
to Nicos. Amazingly, it is successful. It is then Nicos is told
that Rio has been kidnapped.

- The first 500 troops arrive from Uris to help Northmeet. They
fall under the immediate control of Duke Colharn.

of the Eighteen Churches. They are five days too late.
- General Matlo Surrigan and the dwarves combine their forces
and head to Northmeet.
- In Uris the Enclave finally rises. Galahyde DeMonton is declared
the new king of Norandor. Raza and the rest of the Chosen of Narramac
go to ground in the Black Suite.
- There is no news on the fate of Tarrashar - it is assumed that
he is brain dead.
- The high priests of the Moon Faiths use magic to move themselves
to the Village. Seeing the devastation they catch up with Surrigan
and the dwarves and begin to plan.
- Duke Colharn now has 1200 men at his command. Magic wielded
by the Arcanum Incognita and Quelator advises him of the situation
and he plans his strategy with the dwarves.
- This is the eleventh day of the siege of Northmeet and the defences
are beginning to crumble. There is little will left to fight.
- It is the third day of the siege of Timberlake. Duke Ipso and
a force of 50 cavalry have ridden like the wind from Uris and
finally arrive. Timberlake is by now besiged by 10,000 undead.
Ipso attacks them wildly. All the cavalry are killed and Ipso
is believed dead.
Morday, 34 Mizzle Month 204
- It is the twelfth day of the siege of Northmeet.
- Just when things couldn't look any worse, the dwarven army slams
into the attacking goblin force from the north.
- Dwarven casualties are light as the goblins are wiped out.
- At the same time Colharn leads 1500 men into the battle from
the south. Combined with the magic of the high priests the strangehold
on Northmeet is briefly broken.
- Colharn enters the city triumphantly, but the undead close ranks
around him, trapping him within Northmeet.
- This is the fourth day of the siege of Timberlake. The barriers
crumble and undead pour into the city. The surviving druids appear
and help drive the undead from this place, but many are killed.
Sunday, 35 Mizzle Month 204
- The Chosen of Narramac receive the ultimatum form Mínaris.
They must meet him at dawn at Castle Rock or their loved ones
will be killed.
- The siege of Northmeet, briefly broken, enters its thirteenth
day.
- 1000 new arrivals from Uris bolster an army of 3500 dwarves
against the undead. But even with the magic of the high clergy
they are fighting a losing battle.
- The stream of undead from the Wraith Haunt seems never ending.
They press the assault destroying the defenders. The walls of
Northmeet crumble.
- This is the fifth day of the siege of Timberlake. A 500 strong
militia from Western Cross arrives to aid Timberlake. The undead
forces are being kept at bay, but still more are issuing from
the Wraith Haunt.
Vítday, 36 Mizzle Month 204
- Galahyde DeMonton enters Uris and is almost immediately crowned
king.
- The gates of Northmeet fall on the fourteenth day and the defending
dwarves and humans are pushed into the city. There is fighting
with undead in streets packed with refugees. Hundreds are killed.
- Meanwhile the Chosen of Narramac defeat Mínaris's traps
at Castle Rock and save their loved ones. They return to Uris
to face the arch-bastard himself.
- With the help of Aylisha the Chosen attack and slay the dark
sorcerer in a titanic struggle. The Chosen then flee the capital.
- Mínaris's death heralds a sea change in the undead. Immediately
they begin to lose direction and purpose. The defenders of Northmeet
redouble their actions and drive the undead from the city with
blade and sorcery. The spectral undead disperse. It seems as though
they have won.
- It is the same story in Timberlake. On the sixth day of the
siege, the defenders are on the verge of being overrun when the
undead suddenly lose interest. The defenders and druids reunite
to purge the area from the undead.
Terday, 37 Mizzle Month 204
- News of the 'victory' reaches Uris via magic. King Galahyde
ceases any further troop movements north.
- The Chosen of Narramac are declared Traitors to the Crown, and
any one who harbours them is also guilty of treason.
- The defenders of Northmeet try to take stock of their losses.
In the Village of the Eighteen Churches five hundred civilians
and a over seven hundred priests and paladins are dead. In Northmeet,
over 3000 warriors, 2500 dwarves and close to 5000 civilians are
dead. Northmeet normally only holds 7000 people, although over
11,000 were sheltering there from the undead. Almost all the soldiers
sent from Uris are dead. The attacks on the villages along the
Timberlake Road have killed hundreds (perhaps thousands) more
- a true figure will never be known. What is certain is that many
thousands more will die this winter with no shelter or food. In
total 12,000 men and 2500 dwarves are dead.

and 1500 sent to bolster Timberlake's defences.

is a prelude to a second outpouring of evil from the Wraith Haunt.
If the undead attack again, no one in Norandor possesses the power
to stop them. But there is hope.
