  • Grubweed leads the party through the Mithril Vale and into the tunnels beneath it.
  • The group encounter a Purple Worm that is evidently fleeing from something even nastier.
  • They despatch the beast, but do not discover what frightened it.

Morday, 6 Dark Days 204 LE

Iourn > Northern World > Urova > Underdark > Chasm of Gulganesh:

  • Brack and his party arrive at bridge over the Chasm of Gulganesh.
  • They begin to search the dead dwarve that lie here, searching for Prince Ballakus.
  • They discovermany magical weapons and items (many of which Tikana destroys), but not the Oval Stone and not the body of Prince Ballakus. They realise the prine musthave fallen into the chasm.
  • They descend the steep cavern wall with difficulty. It is a mile deep and they rest in a cave half-way down.
  • Brosh summons a magical shelter for the convenience of his companions.

Sunday, 7 Dark Days 204 LE

Iourn > Northern World > Urova > Underdark > Chasm of Gulganesh:

  • Brack and his party finally reach the floor of the chasm.
  • Searching the dead on the floor they are attacked by a swarm of scarab beetles. They have no defence against these creatures and are forced to flee before they are eaten alive. In the confusion they are separated.
  • Tikanna, Uthgar and his mount are captured by driders.
  • While searching for the missing pair, Brack finds signs of a struggle and begins to track them across the chasm floor.

Iourn > Northern World > Urova > Underdark > Chasm of Gulganesh:

  • Brack, Blaine, Halbeara, Waldyslaw and Brosh are waylaid by a band of drow, led by Melimae a priestess of Lolth.
  • The drow are also after the driders and Melimae proposes an alliance of convenience.
  • The dwarves enter a high cave to free their friends only to find the driders have already gone (with the oval stone).
  • Reunited, the dwarven party decide to turn on the drow. Melimae realises this and the drow attack.
  • In the ensuing battle, Waldyslaw Grubweed, Tikanna Torgelah, Blaine, Uthgar Ungort and The Mighty Scourge of all Which is Evil are killed by force of arms, magic and a cave-in.
  • Brack, Halbeara and Shredder are subdued by the cave-in and captured by the drow.
  • Brosh Dväalzkhiin is buried and believed dead. He later digs himself out and returns to the surface.

  • 1500 troops arrive in Timberlake from Northmeet. They bolster the city's meagre defences.

Terday, 9 Dark Days 204

Iourn > Northern World > Urova > Norandor > Uris:

  • Duke Geriant and Duke Colharn arrive in Uris. They enter a closed conference with the king, and the heads of the sixteen true churches. First Flame Vina Leikey stands in for the feebleminded Tarrashar.
  • A true picture of the terrible events of the last month begins to emerge.
  • Thousands are dead but many thousands more are displaced. Many are heading to Uris.
  • The king still has an army of 15,000 men in the capital. He intends to use it to keep refugees away from his city.

Zephday, 10 Dark Days

Iourn > Northern World > Urova > Norandor > Larton Cross:

  • The new baron, Edmundo Horath, takes possession of the Shai'ir town house in Lartan Cross and heads to the estate outside the city.
  • With Amarice, Rio and Alicia missing the only member of the family still in residence is Rio's mother, Elisia Shai'ir.
  • Elisia cannot fight Baron Edmundo who inherits the entire barony. As Elisia is considered part of the property of the barony she is now Edmundo's. However, Edmundo is actually quite a nice chap and he immediately releases her. He gives Elisia a substantial holding in his barony and agrees to pay her a stipend so she is never out of pocket. He doesn't have to do any of this, and Elisia is quite impressed by his genorosity.

  • Vaprissar continues to play her games with Clanlord Elias.
  • She appears as Quenqurial for the last time, and states that she will be gone for some considerable time.
  • Vaprissar-as-Quenqurial instructs Clandlord Elias to prepare his people for the worst.

Terday, 16 Dark Days 204

Iourn > Northern World > Urova > Norandor > Úngorn Forest:

  • Arvan, Nicos, Parvan, Rio, Alicia, Sendress and Caius arrive at the sacred grove where the seasonal druidic moot is held.
  • They meet the guardian of the grove, the dryad called Blossom, but there is no sign of the rest of the Order.

  • Brosh arrives back in Northmeet, and speaks to Carenthis who is pleased that Tikanna is dead, but not pleased that the Oval Stone is in the hands of driders and Prince Ballakus's body is still missing.

Morday, 20 Dark Days 204 LE

Iourn > Northern World > Urova > Norandor > Sorgar:

  • Elias Raithbourn, Raza de Luna and Ravenna arrive in Sorgar and go their separate ways.
  • Elias and Ravenna meet with Dysan of the Order of the Dragon and are introduced to Jessica DiFontaine, Torr, Jonus and Fallor Mwotü.
  • After a violent encounter with Iltilmus's forces, Elias, Ravenna and their new companions depart Sorgar aboard The Painted Lady. They head for the Isle of Varosh.
  • Raza seeks out of the Vampire of Sorgar and becomes a long term guest.

  • Little Bobby Proudfoot's bunions act up. This is a portent of great woe.
  • Fallor and the Bashardi brothers collect sucker fish from a gigantic basking shark.

  • A disfigured Morgase Esseni and the druids arrive for the moot.
  • The druids are remarkably few in number. There will be no challenge, but there is much to discuss, including the Keening.
  • The druids suspect the Keening is the Song of Sarakite, and is a prelude to a second outpouring of evil from the Wraith Haunt. If the undead attack again, no one in Norandor possesses the power to stop them. But there is hope.
  • Arvan and Nicos are introduced to three warriors who stood with the druids at Harton Moor and survived: Sir Keteren, Kell and Ezekiel de Chesiré
  • The five are sent to raid the horde of the dragon Vaprissar to find an artefact (an ivory horn inlaid with mithril and adamant) that may be helpful.
  • The Keening can still be heard through all the hours of darkness.

  • The Painted Lady passes the estaury of the Mark and travels beyond Norandor.
  • For the first time Elias and Ravenna feel as though they are out of Galahyde's reach.

  • Arvan, Nicos and company arrive at Vaprissar's lair at dusk. The lair is defended by a Tendriculous.
  • Despite being a wholly inconsequential threat compared to the powers of the party, unluck and a profound lack of tactical judgement result in the death of Arvan.
  • Disraught at the loss of his friend, Nicos summons an efreet to bring the druid back to life.
  • However, the price of such an action is too high, and so Nicos sends his planar ally to fetch the ivory and hopes to rely ont he druids to reincarnate Arvan.
  • The surviving members of the party head back to the druid's grove.
  • The Keening can still be heard through all the hours of darkness.

  • Guiseppe Bashardi is killed in an unspeakable fashion aboard The Painted Lady.
  • Ravenna is suspected of the killing and - due to the taint she carries - does not know for certain she is innocent.

  • Elias and Ravenna tell Captain Montague and the crew of The Painted Lady all about their adventures since winning Narramac's grand quest. They leave nothing out.
  • The passengers and crew are split up into teams to be on the look-out for the murderer. Ravenna is still the prime suspect.

  • Most of the dwarves (including Brosh and Carenthis) leave Northmeet and the return to Underbarron. They plan to take a longer route through the Underworld that avoids the Chasm of Gulganesh.

  • Nicos, Ezekiel, Keteran and Kell return to the moot with the horn and Arvan's body.
  • After much discussion Arvan is reincarnatedby Great Druid, Morgase Esseni.

  • Elias, Ravenna and company arrive in Demdomin and report the activity of the Painted Lady and their fears for Giacomo to Gatemaster Treviso.
  • They also contact the mage Mercuso who is an expert on these matters and learn much of the history of Umaru, the Painted Lady.

  • Elias, Ravenna and party exhume the body of Umaru's son, Lupo. But, with the exception of Elias breaking all his fingers they learn nothing of any worth.
  • An unnecessarily detailed look into the history of the astronomer, Sergenté is equally fruitless, although they do discover the location of the Astronomer Divine, Zerical.
  • In the evening the Painted Lady returns to claim Giacomo. Miraculously the party save him and the Painted Lady departs.

  • The Twelve arrive in the devastated Northmeet, much to the surprise of recently returned Duke Colharn.
  • Word of their arrival is sent magically to Uris.
  • Such is the great importance of this event that King Galahyde decides to personally visit the paladins and take council with them.
  • King Galahyde arrives in Northmeet with Gaston, who uses his magic to teleport the pair.
  • The Keening can still be heard through all the hours of darkness.

Sunday, 35 Dark Days 204 LE

  • Giacomo Bashardi is declared safe from the Painted Lady. He is to remain in Demdomin with Mercuso.
  • Ravenna, Elias and company finally leave Demdomin and head for Varosh.
  • In the night, the Painted Lady appears to Jonus. She seems to have mistaken him for her long dead son.

  • The Twelve meet with King Galahyde, Duke Colharn, Archwizard Gaston and Quelator.
  • Deciding that intelligence is the key to understanding what is going on, the Twelve ask that the goblin prisoner, Vigrek be brought forth.
  • Vigrek tells the Twelve about the plans of Blathgan Dwarfbane and how he was allied to a dark evil.
  • The Twelve leave Northmeet with Vigrek, planning to examine the clanhold of the Stoneheart goblins.
  • Phidelius Verne, Grazakik, Thomlin Salastos, Lady Cerys Olwain and Toboromor are called away by the Armourer. Their help is needed in the Midnight Lands, far to the south. The other seven members of the Twelve to deal with Sarakite.
  • The remaining paladins transport themselves and Vigrek to the home of the Stoneheart clan. They meet two odd brothers called Smeer and Harm and discover some evil artefacts (including a device similar to the one used by Smerl at Underbaron). However, nothing is found that will help them stop Sarakite.
  • The paladins release Vigrek judging that he has done no wrong.
  • Transporting themselves to the land near the Wraith Haunt, the paladins encounter Sojer, a boy looking for his sister.
  • The paladins agree to find his sister - an adventuress who has entered the Wraith Haunt with a group of companions.
  • Cephas, Brenin and Caerdanan return to Northmeet with Sojer to heal Sojer's sick father. Cephas actually cures scores of the wounded and gravely ill.
  • While they wait, the other paladins build a holy bunker on the edge of the Wraith Haunt. It is here they spend the night.
  • The keening can be clearly heard through the dark of the night.

  • Arvan rises to the Inner Circle of the Norandon druids and has the title "Druid" conferred upon him.
  • Arvan's mentor, Parvan, originally of the Kerikite Circle, also joins the Norandon inner circle. He believes he can do more good for the Order in where their numbers are weakest.
  • Druid Jelanie rises in rank to Archdruid Jelanie.

  • They are set upon by literally hundreds of wraiths, but dispatch them with ease.

Iourn > Northern World > Urova > Norandor > Wraith Haunt:

  • The Twelve encounter a Spirit of the Land, driven mad by the corruption of the Wraith Haunt.
  • Following signs of a battle with a coven of vampires, the Twelve encoutner Sojer's sister Nikita and her companions Takalla, Berrimede, Crispin, Refuto and Selik.
  • This party lost out in Narramac's grand quest, and Nikita is determined to make a name for herself. Nothing the Twelve say can dissuade her or her party from attempting to remove Sarakite. The Twelve leave them to their fate.
  • The Twelve encounter a Thatani, corrupted forest giant and dark knight in the service of Sarakite. Aided by earthshakingly powerful nightcrawler, Thatani comes close to destroying the paladins, but it is ultimately defeated.
  • The way to Sarakite now seems clear, although the dreaded keening still continues.

Iourn > Northern World > Urova > Norandor > Wraith Haunt:

  • The Twelve arrive in the ruins of Cyryth Allavorean and despatch a demon that has taken up residence there.
  • Pressing on they discover an idyllic community of elven children at the centre of the forest. The children are looked after by some called Serena. They love Serena and seem to worship her almost like a god.
  • Caerdanan enters the Realm of Dreams to search for Serena and discovers that Serena and Sarkite are one in the same.
  • The Twelve face off against Sarakite. All are killed ignominiously except Caerdanan who is banished to the Great Dark.
  • The Keening continues.

  • A captive Elias is confronted by Mortimer who blames Elias for Alessandre's death.
  • Mortimer has planned his revenge closely, and Elias cannot escape from the watery death trap the wizard has prepared.
  • Fortunately, Nosuch rescues Elias in the nick of time.
  • Captain Montague turns The Lady around and the hunt for Elias begins.

  • The dead bodies of the Twelve are discovered by Nikita and her party.
  • After much debate, Crispin raises Titus 'Tendeath Geluvelt' who manages to restore his fellows. They decide to return to the Armourer and re-assess the situation.

  • The resurrected members of The Twelve arrive at the monastery and consult with the Armourer (Camus).
  • Camus uses his magicks to search for Caerdanan, while the remaining members of the group take stock.
  • They realise that the elven children are source of Sarakite's power, and hatch a plan to petrify them thus depowering their foe.
  • Camus locates Caerdanan and manages to open a portal to the Great Dark and snare him.

Iourn > Northern World > Urova > Norandor > Wraith Haunt:

  • After extensive conversations with the Vampire of Sorgar, Raza mentions Aldric Kurst.
  • The Vampire reveals that Aldric Kurst was the one who deceived him into becoming a vampire, 1200 years ago.

Iourn > Northern World > Urova > Norandor > Wraith Haunt:

  • The Twelve return to the Wraith Haunt, where they discover Nikita and her party about to murder all the elven children by means of an advanced cloudkill spell.
  • They stop Nikita and put their own plan into operation.
  • After successfully goading Sarkite into one last fight, Brenin Rivenstone uses his magic to petrify the elven children. Robbed of her divine powers, Sarakite's power is greatly reduced.
  • Still, the fight is terrible and could go either way until the paladins eventually succeed in destroying her physical form.
  • With Sarakite's body destroyed the idyllic realm dissolves leaving only the Wraith Haunt.
  • The Keening ends.

  • The end of the Keening is greeted with much celebration at the druidic moot.
  • News reaches Jelanie that her husband, the orc Gorahk might still be alive.

Morday, 41 Dark Days 204 LE

  • The petrified elven children are transported through a gate to the monastery of the Order of St Vyvian.
  • The Twelve intend to return them to the Greymere.
  • News reaches the Armourer that Phidelius Vyrn and the other four members of the Twelve are in dire straits.
  • The work is never done for the seven paladins who ride for the Southern World.

  • Morgase asks Jelanie to head to Eldagaire and discuss the crisis with Petrov Arcanius the Grand Druid. Morgase wants to know if the Oceanic Order can be persuaded to stand with the Order against Karatath.
  • En route Jelanie plans to see if there are truth to the rumours that Grahk lives.
  • Jelanie prepares to head off in search of her husband, but she is fearful. Her son is also missing. She asks Arvan to go to the Village of the Eighteen Churches and look for Bronx who was there when the goblins attacked the place.
  • She introduces Arvan to the wandering ranger Rufus Sewell and a relative of Ezekiel's called Nebuchadnezzar de Chesiré. They will accompany Arvan, Nicos and Kell to the village.
  • Jelanie and her entourage leaves for Eldagire. Ezekiel de Chesiré is her guide - the hobbit having visited Eldagire in the past.
  • Arvan, Nicos and their companions depart the druid's grove for the Village.
  • Rio and Alicia Shai'ir go with them, but the sisters wish to return home to Lartan Cross. They are anxious to see their family again - Alicia her child and Rio their father, Amarice.

  • Arvan, Nicos, Kell, Nebuchadnezzar, Rufus, Keteran, Rio and Alicia reach the Great Southern Road that runs through the Úngorn forest. They press on to the east.

Iourn > Northern World > Urova > Norandor > Windslá and Environs:

  • Arvan, Nicos and company arrive at the village of Windslá.
  • The people of Windslá have barricaded the town against refugees and looters they fear will descend upon the village and take the winter food that is still stored here. The party has a tough time getting through.
  • Rio and Alicia depart on horseback for Lartan Cross. Everyone else heads north.

  • The adventuring party Nikita, Selik, Berrimede, Crispin, Takalla and Refuto arrive in Northmeet from the Wraith Haunt, brining with them the news of Sarakite's death and the part they played in her downfall.
  • The group have an audience with Duke Colharn, and then with King Galahyde who is very interested in what they have to say.
  • The King travels back to Uris with Nikita and her party.

  • Word of the defeat of Sarakite is spread in Uris.
  • The city rejoices at the Twelve, but also the role played by Nikita and her group.
