Character Summary

The middle child of Sharax and Jeane Chandar, born on 18 Kindlesmoke 200. Arax believed his life held nothing but the prospect of boat-building or fishing until one day ten seasons ago when Arax aged seven witnessed the arrival of Trevane in the town. Arax was fascinated by the wizard and watched his every move, although Trevane seemed oblivious to the attention. Then in Spring 204, Trevane abruptly approached Arax and offered him a position as his apprentice. He did not explain why, but Arax leapt at the chance. Sharax disapproved of the arrangement but did not want to cross the wizard. Arax has learned quickly under Trevane, but has had little opportunity to test his powers.

Original Character Background

This is the original character background provided by Graham in the run up to the Crucible of Youth campaign:

  • Grandfather, Shul: (56): Sits on council. Pokes nose in boat building from time to time
  • Grandmother, Scylla: (54): Retired farmer.
  • Grandfather 2, Mian: (54 if still alive now) Fisherman, master boat builder. Lost at sea
  • Grandmother 2, Rose: (55) Went mad after Mian was lost at sea.
  • Father, Sharax: (39) Fisherman & master boat builder, presumed lost at sea
  • Mother, Jeane: (38) Helps out on farms occasionally.
  • Brother #1, Malax: (19) Fisherman & boat builder
  • Brother #2, Forax: (15) boat builder

Mian was the master boat builder in the village until he was lost at sea 20 seasons ago. Sharax became the master boat builder shortly after. Calax was claimed by the sea slightly over a season ago, Malax is now acting master boat builder.

Arax was never really interested in boat building, to the disappointment of Sharax, instead fascinated by magic, often lying in wait trying to catch sight of Trevane working magic. Malax thinks this is a stupid and dangerous thing to be doing. Forax thinks it is a great idea.

After a time of Arax watching Trevane without Trevane appearing to notice / care, Trevane unexpectedly approaches Arax and offers to take him on as an apprentice.
