The companions are back in Bear's Reach and immediately find themselves faced with a terrible problem. Taran Farmer, Rex Njedelstom, Ciaron Chandar and Antoine Dyer - the four bullies who made Grint's life a misery - are dead. Grint himself has vanished. Can Krais's brother be responsible for these inexplicable killings? As the group begins to investigate they discover something darker and more fell is at work in the town. But what does it have to do with infamous Miller sisters, and can Illyan's unwelcome lineage possibly be playing a part? And then there is Grint himself, whose motives in this are far from obvious.
