Iourn Home > History > Prophecies of Nallasean Etamyre

Nallasean Etamyre was an elven sage, poet and prophet who lived in the great city of Cyryth Allavorean before its fall in 1050 PL. Etamyre's poetry and his prophecies survived the destruction, even if he did not. Over the years and the centuries, many elves have taken great comfort from these works and consider their author to have had the ear of Fate herself. His prognostications can be viewed as stunningly accurate (usually after the event), and many believe that the key to victory in a second great war lie in his words. A selection of his prophecies was given to the Chosen of Narramac by the elf, Etchen, on 1 New Year 205 LE. These prophecies spoke of the Chosen themselves, their deeds and perhaps their future.

~1~

Seven there were and seven there must be again,
Seven to awake to the widening world,
Seven to keep Shallambor safe from dark forces,
Seven united; for in disunity is death.

~2~

In the land unlooked for,
A reviled lineage will outwit immortal minds
And the second son's six faces
Will follow an unexpected destiny.

~3~

In godless hearts a dirge will rise
That shakes the cage of fire
Freedom comes at a bitter price
As the ascent quickens.

~4~

Royal blood runs in distrusted veins,
And age is unapparent in the dark of the earth,
Those who keep a demon close to their heart
Will walk a path of perfidy.

~5~

The sixth will be undone by his heart,
Three temptations will dog his path,
And he will choose them all,
Thus will burn the innocent.

~6~

Nine helms of burning brass,
Nine sons of man upon the ground,
Nine swords to cut them down,
The flora drinks greedily on the blood.

~7~

A masked face holds a darkened truth,
A locked room holds a forgotten son,
A dying swan holds a sharpened soul,
The black man may be king.

~8~

On the Thundercrowned slopes will rise the many headed foe,
To challenge Fate's first son,
And turn the world into a farmer's prop,
And fight the war of ages.

~9~

The first hides in a darkness that cannot be repressed,
In Thanassanoir she will drink it in,
And it will be given ambulation
The daughter will devour her forebear.

~10~

Beware the lady who smiles with five faces,
Her touch is capricious, her love is as death
Her stewards see the precipice
She controls the wind.

~11~

One joy accounted and one unlooked for
Shall turn against Nature, and spit in the eye of Fate.
In the crucible of Mankind, a flame will arise
And the East will burn.

~12~

The second is not born of men, but springs from the rock unbidden,
He will not be among the first,
But will rise above his station,
The last blow will be his.

~13~

On the mighty mountain is a door unopened,
The broken vale that holds the key to immortality,
Will shudder in the moonlit noon,
When Ancient hands devour the clay of the land.

~14~

The burning star will descend from on high,
But meet its end by most ancient hands,
And men will see its fire extinguished and
Plunge into disturbed sleep.

~15~

The five thousand shall rise in the half-land,
And they will spread like seeds on the wind,
Until they nestle in the breast of all Men,
Waiting for their deliverance.

~16~

The servant shall surpass the master,
The tyrant will tremble in the shadow of his coat-man,
The cancer of pain will corrupt the soul,
The back will be turned on a past uncaptured.

~17~

In unlikely Maldomoor will the sword-arm rise,
That felled the mighty Galshook in his age,
And turns again on the seed of that House
To betray the soul to the deeper dark.

~18~

The third shall walk the path unlaid,
He will rule with a stolen rod,
And men must be made to bow to him,
Lest Fate be made the whore of mankind.

~19~

A man unlike men will rise in the Witching Lands
And compete to fill his father's mantle.
Small hope will dwindle as his hunt leads him
To prey both timid and benign.

~20~

A man of letters, a man of shadows and a man of deeds
Will play the wheel of Fate.
In the land of the blue sun,
Their price will be paid a hundredfold.

~21~

The seventh will risk all for love,
But will not understand the fate that binds her,
Nor that its hands stretch beyond death,
On her depends a furtive doom.

~22~

Look not to seas of depravity,
Look not to light filled heavens,
Neither hot nor cold are the instruments of doom,
The silent influence of the hollow foot step.

~23~

The darkness is turned, but not destroyed,
The horror is buried, but not forgotten,
The war is paused, but not completed,
All comes full circle in an Age of Reckoning.

~24~

The fifth will doubt himself and his friends,
Men will die for him, knowing not what he is,
Great powers will rule him,
Discretion and secrecy will undo him.

~25~

A dark rider will pass through the shadow of Shallambor
Trees will wither in his wake, and the flowers turn away,
In the south lands there will be rejoicing
As the prophet steps sideways to disaster.

~26~

A holy man shall turn his back on his calling,
And journey to face great fear,
And he will want for Strength,
He will carry horror with him.

~27~

The withered breasts of a scaled foe,
Will grant a great boon to the few,
But spell death to the many when the iron seat is reforged,
And a beast commands the hearts of men.

~28~

The stone will crack, and darkness gather
When the hour glass overturns and
No mirror is needed to see,
A storm ride in and the worlds fly apart.

~29~

The fourth will endure the worst of them all,
His life and his days will pass again and again,
He will be struck down,
He will not rise unchanged.

~30~

In Elessenia beats the heart of the untrue soldier,
His soul suspended at the lip of life,
Dark are the dreams of the wind.
The whispers of yesterday brush past each ear.
