Vadiz: Port in the north-east of the Five Colour Kingdom, and home of the bulk of the gnomish Merchant Marine.

Valley of Gold: Lush and verdant area of the Gallomar Peaks containing the Pits of Walhoon. The Valley of Gold is said to contain a collection of ancient lizardine beings, named by some as dinosaurs.

Valmar, Jedson: One of the thirteen companions of Scarman Thorn who came to Bear's Reach in 38 LE. Jedson was a member of the Scriveners of Doom, and it was his idea to draw the other companions together to find Scarman. He went onto be the first Chronicler of Bear's Reach.

Van Caspan, Ulish [archnecrotain]: Head of the Watchers on the Cusp of Oblivion in the Village of the Eighteen Churches. Incensed by Rothsman's recent resurrection of Heena, the zealous Van Caspan bears much of the blame for the schism between the two churches. Assassinated in spectacular fashion while conducting The Blessing on 1st Suntask 204. His death was the catalyst for the subsequent war between the Watchers and the Church of Fire. Although the identity of his killers remains unknown it was widely believed that Belerus Rothsman had a hand in it, although the Enclave of Lollmeadow 204 proved this to be untrue. Van Caspan was actually tricked by agents of Thaddeus Carvin into believing he was doing Mortis's work, and killed himself.

Van Futen, Oslos: The first High Holy Witness of Doom of the Watchers on the Cusp of Oblivion.

Van Rashten, Tuzzle [Indran]: Monk sent to Underbarron by Niergan in Keenaxe 203. Almost fatally assaulted by a small child on the return journey.

Vandantamus: Known also the Creator, Vandantamus is a huge serpent who slithers the Dark promoting evil. Vandantamus embraced undeath thousands of years ago; a vampire of god-like power, the serpent creates more of its kind where it can and is believed responsible for most of the vampires to found in the Great Dark. All owe fealty to this monster. Some legends name Vandantamus as the origin of all vampires.

Vandif, Emile: The Junos representative on the Council of Adventure.

Varamil [archnecrotain]: The high priest of the temple of the Watchers in Northmeet. Varamil is a thin, tall man of great wisdom. He had long suspected that something was brewing in the Wraith Haunt before those suspicions were confirmed by Salamar Russ in Scatterseed 204. As a young cleric, Varamil was involved in the great hunt for Furnice during the summer of 202 LE. Following the reappearance of the dragon, Varamil took a major part in the quest for itself destruction, joining Captain Skellig of Northmeet and his army in an expedition to the Barrowmoors in the late Brightday of 204. Varamil does not approve of the degeneration of the relationship between the Watchers and the Church of Fire, believing that the faiths of all the moon gods are as one. He considered the destruction of Furnice more important that apprehending Ravenna and her party when he had the chance on 43rd Brightday 204. Varamil was temporarily appointed as Archnecrotain of the Village of the Eighteen Churches on the death of Ulish Van Caspan. He quickly returned from the Barrowmoors to attend to his duties. He secretly worked with First Flame Julian Maynard, Belerus Rothsman and Druid Jelanie to bring about the end of the war. This was successful, although he almost lost everything when Tarex discovered what he had been doing. Varamil's position as Archnecrotain of the Village has since been confirmed.

Vardos: Creepy landlord of the Dragon tavern in the Village of the Eighteen Churches. An abstract coward, Vardos gave some aid to the party (2) on 1st Brightday 204, and introduced them to Gunlarr.

Varn: One of the soldiers in the retinue of Baron Tannith Swift who came to Bear's Reach on 30 Chillbone 204. He pursued Vitor Grushko into the Whittenwood on 34 Chillbone. It is not known whether he still lives.

Varna: Captain of the Demeter. Agreed to carry Úsaan Altorro to Bear's Reach. He disappeared with the rest of the crew - probably at the hands of otherwordly assailants. His last journal entry was 47 Keenaxe 204.

Varr: One of the members of the dwarven warband that arrived in Uris on 42nd Suntask 204 searching for murdered of King Evabold of Kulhazan. Returned to Kulhâzan with Grimm and the captive Thorangrim, arriving on 27th Midsummer 204.

Venk, Grimble: Builder, wood merchant and purveyor of fair-quality furniture. Keeps a warehouse in Uris. One of Jhasik's creditors.

Verence: Druidic initiate of the Kerikite Circle who fought the forces of evil in the Plains of Acheron during Midsummer 204.

Verinbay: Large port on the northern coast of the westerly tip of Norandor. Once in the duchy of Westerland it has recently fallen under the influence of Korvis of Sal'Cran.

Victor: Viper and independent familiar of the sorcerer Jass. Victor appears to be the embodiment of that part of Jass that hates himself.

Vikallia: A land far over the eastern sea. Reputed to be to the north of the Hadradan Empire.

Village Council: In Bear's Reach, the council has utter autonomy over the town. It is made up of the oldest living male in each family. The council meets each Sunday to debate the events of the week and make decisions of little import.

Village of the Eighteen Churches: Sometimes known only as 'The Village', this town is located a mile from the foot on Mount Korvast in northern Norandor. It is the holiest place for all the religions of the Moon Gods. Each church keeps a temple in the Village, as close as they can get to Korvast. The politics of the Village is complicated to say the least. Tensions run high, but there has been no open violence for three years before the war between the Firestarters and the Watchers on the Cusp of Oblivion.

Vítaeous: Moon god of life, birth, creation, creativity, joy, love, marriage, heroism, adventuing and good fortune. There are three main churches to Vítaeous in Urova: The Church of Life who are great healers and efficiate at births and marriages; Fortune's Favour, the church of luck and adventures; and Sensationalist who are a strange collection of debauched experimenters who will try anything once.

Vivienne: Alias given to Ravenna by Elias Raithborne on 26th Brightday 204.

Voldolphus: One of the three accursed druids who used their power to defile the land. Vodolphus defiled in an attempt to keep the Hadradans out of Eldagaire. He them turned himself into his circle for execution.

Von Turnsgate Hill: A wooded hill that rises out of the Whittenwood five miles south of the village of Bear's Reach.

Von Turnsgate Mine: A less than impressive hole in the side of Von Turnsgate Hill, located five miles south of the village of Bear's Reach. The mine was played out years ago, and now produces only a tiny amount of iron each year. It is dangerous and liable to flooding.

Von Turnsgate, Sidwé: One of the thirteen companions of Scarman Thorn who came to Bear's Reach in 38 LE. A nobleman, disenchanted with his life.

Von Turnsgate, Vannir: Born in Winter 175, Vannir was the last in a long line of Von Turnsgates who could trace their hisotry back to the second generation fo settlers that followed Scarman Thorn. Vannir was the last of his line and desperate to prodcue a male heir. However, after his marriage to Elana Cooper fell through in Summer 182 he became soured by the thought of marriage. He died in Winter 190, and his line died with him.

Vrex Cross: Norandan town.

Vrexax [duke]: Duke of Vrex Cross.

Vurgan: One of the soldiers in the retinue of Baron Tannith Swift who came to Bear's Reach on 30 Chillbone 204. He pursued Vitor Grushko into the Whittenwood on 34 Chillbone. It is not known whether he still lives.

Vyrn, Saramil: Co-founder of the Guild of Adventurers with Wisden Kendennis and Jasmin de Bauch. Vyrn was a wizard and born-again bureaucrat who administerd the guild for eight years before his death from old age on 34th Coldsorrow 176. In his will he laid down the current management of the guild that has suvived to the present day.
