Abrinthor (King): Dwarven prince, named King in Waiting of the Hold of Kulhâzan. Abrinthor conspired with a number of other dwarven clan chiefs to murder his father, King Evabold in the Coldsorrow of 203. He did this not for personal gain but because Evabold was a Malificent, and would spell doom for Kulhâzan. His complicity was almost unearthed when Warmaster Grimm brought the 'murderer' Thorangrim back to Kulhâzan on 27th Midsummer 204, but the matter was smoothed over with the help of the Chosen of Narramac. Abrinthor's coronation should soon take place. Abrinthor is a young dwarf, serious beyond his years, and utterly ruthless in his mission to stamp out corruption within the Hold.

Accepted: Any member of the druidic order who has gained the ability to wildshape.

The Accursed: Collective term for the three druids who have used their powers to defile the land. The Accursed are Dulluth, Hieton Kard and Vodolphus.

Ack: One of the guards of Castle Northmeet. Failed to prevent Elias, Arvan, Ravenna, Nicos and Raza from escaping on 13th Brightday 204.

Aegis: A terrible, sprawling prison created by the Grey Princes to hold Karatath and his minions after their defeat in the Great War. The Aegis sits directly over Iourn's southern pole, a cap on the Sinkhole of Evil and uses that power to support the magical wards that hold Karatath. The Aegis is surrounded by a constant wall of supplicants and True Malificents prostrating themselves before their imprisoned lord. The wards of the Aegis are weakening. Karatath's greatest servants are all ready free, and it may only be a matter of time before the Dark One rises again.

Aginor the Wise: Ancient silver dragon that dwells in Kerikal, a hundred miles south of Kovar. Aginor is a friend to the druidic Order, but would not help them against the evil in the Plains of Acheron. The Chosen of Narramac stayed under his protection on 29th Midsummer 204.

Agiostic Church: This is the church that worships Sharrash as god of Commerce and Trade.

Alabann: Capital city of Junos, located on the northern coast.

Alakovan: Leader of the Calclafan senate.

Alamanda: Alessandre's great aunt and only surviving relative. Alamanda resides in the city of Sorgar where she lives on the profits of a lifetime as courtesan and bard. In her late seventies she can be called a handsome woman. In her youth she was undoubtedly gorgeous.

Alberdark: Lord chamberlain of the court of Yaddagon XIV and the king's most loyal supporter. Alberdark was born on 27 Suntask 195 LE, and was a childhood companion of Yaddagon's eldest son, the late Prince Erinsor. Alberdark is a subtle political player. During the summer of 204 he was engaged in a very public feud with Count Kristus, over the noble's support for Galahyde the Black as a successor to King Yaddagon XIV. Alberdark was present at Mount Korvast for Narramac's return on 1 Brightday 204, and again for the end of the quest a month later. He invited the Chosen of Narramac to Uris to attend the king. In return he granted them a pardon for their past crimes. Over the following weeks and months Alberdark helped to tutor the Chosen in the ways of the royal court and to explain to them the very painful political realities of Norandon society. Both Raza and Elias turned to Alberdark in times of need, although some members of the Chosen (particularly Ravenna) never fully trusted the man. Alberdark was emphatically loyal to the king and the Norandon constitution, and believed that the only true successor to his king would be someone Yaddagon named as heir, in accordance with the oldest traditions. His relationship with the party was one of impatient tolerance; although never viewing them with the contempt of Archwizard Gaston, he still saw them as people well out of their social depth.

Alessa: Wife of Tobias, the warder of Weyland. She was infected by vengeful tree-spirits masquerading as her children during the spring of 203. Her life is eventually saved by Vítaean priest, Malachi de Chesiré.

Alessandre: Celebrated, beautiful and flirtatious bard, Alessandre travelled widely around Norandor before arriving in The Village of the Eighteen Churches on 35th Gentle Days 204. She joined Narramac's quest the following month to find herself teamed with Alexi, Jakil, Mortimer, Nosuch and Scintila. Alessandre made fast friends with Elias Raithborne, who is completely smitten with the girl. Alessandre has all the coy self-possession of someone who is used to eliciting such a response anywhere she goes. Whether she has deeper feelings for Elias (or at all) is yet to be seen, although she did risk much to aid his escape attempt from Northmeet Castle. According to the mysterious Andel, Alessandre is not all that she seems. Alesandre performed at the Village of the Eighteen Churches again on 49th Brightday 204; and she was encountered again by the party (3) at the Old Utavran Inn a few days later. It was here that Elias discovered her disturbing habit for risk and drug taking. After kicking both Elias and her current lover, Jakil, out of her life she made a pass at Nicos who refused her advances. She left for parts unknown, although a vision experience by Ravenna on 30th Midsummer 204 may indicate the bard is in some danger.

Alexi: Broad-shouldered and heavily armoured, a warrior from Korvis' city of Sal'Cran who rode like the wind to join Narramac's quest of Brightday 204. A single minded individual he was teamed with Alessandre, Jakil, Nosuch, Scintila and Mortimer. Alexi seems single-minded and humourless; although on closer inspection it was revealed that he is a deeply honourable man.

Algar: Inhabitant of the Great Dark. A human male who claims to have once been a king. He was one of the original prisoners thrust through the Gates of Perdition. The curse Algar carries is that he will not die until every descendent from every being his tyrannical rule put to death is also dead. Algar can always tell if he is facing one of these descendants, and fights without mercy in his pursuit of death. If you are not one of the descendants (and there seem to be few who are not) Algar is not unreasonable.

Alhaven: Village of one thousand souls approximately one day's travel south of Northmeet along the North Uris Road. Alhaven is under the control of Duke Colharn.

Alladaine: Scribe who translated Persephariel's The Theology of Dragons at some point in the distant past.

Allenkai, Aylisha (Lady): Beautiful and mysterious advisor to King Yaddagon XIV. She arrived at the court at some point between 40th Brightday and 15th Suntask 204, while Alberdark was away from the city. Aylisha says she one of the many daughters of the late Count Ulwyn of Arawn (a county in far western Norandor) who died in First Snow 203. Her appearance at court is not unsurprising, but the speed in which she has reached a position of such influence has turned many heads. She has developed a friendship with the druid Arvan Walker-in-Shadows. During her captivity at the hands of a group of Bombastics on 1st Lollmeadow 204, Aylisha displayed a degree of stength and skill that can only be described as supernatural. On 23 Heathaze 204, she admitted to Raza de Luna that she was not Aylisha Allenkai, that the real Aylisha Allenkai perished in a fire when she was seven seasons of age. Aylisha has taken on her current identity to get close to King Yaddagon, to protect him.

Allenkai, Ulwyn (Count): Count of Arawn (near Narrisham) who died with no male heir in First Snow 203. The then baron, Tursep, was raised in status to take over the county. Ulwyn is survived by many daughters.

Allumière, Nicos (Pyrus): Cleric of the Church of Fire and servant of Calafax. Tutored by Julian Maynard at Scaldarnus in Uris, Nicos is searching for his lover Rio Shai'ir, who was abducted from Scaldarnus seasons ago. Nicos blames his old rival Boundewijn Berdgardt for Rio's disappearance (and for everything else). Nicos spent seasons looking for Rio before he began Narramac's great quest with new companions Elias, Raza, Ravenna, Arvan and Minsc in Brightday 204. A victor of the grand quest, Nicos became one of the Chosen of Narramac and has taken an important role in Norandon society.

Altaire, Deena: High priestess of the Agiostic Church, based in Uris. Present at the Ceremony of the Sword on 25 Heathaze 204.

Altorro, Úsaan: Kindly cleric of the Odyssian Church who worked aboard the Enlightenment on its voyage from Sorgar to Hadras in Kindlesmoke 204. He befriended the Chosen of Narramac on this voyage and spent much time in their company. Úsaan's obsession is to discover what happened to his great great great grandmother, Niamh Altorro, who led a group of adventurers into the Sunken Temple thirty years ago. To this end he journeyed to Bear's Reach only to have his ship taken over by unknown otherworldly assailants who seem to have possessed or eaten the crew, and kept Úsaan in a magical sleep. Úsaan was liberated by the Companions of Bear's Reach and returned to the village, where he struck up a relationship with Mab Brewer. The assailants attempted to abduct Úsaan again, but he was rescued again and entered the Sunken Temple on 1 First Snow 204.

Altred, Finsey: Highly skilled lawyer employed by Baron Leston of Umbria. Retained by Elias Raithbourne when he took over the barony.

Amber (Baroness): Wife of Baron Dalamir. The new barony of Ambria was named after her in 31 LE. It is now known as Umbria.

Ambria: Original name of the Norandon barony of Umbria. Named after Amber, the wife of the then baron, Dalamir.

Andel: An elf of unknown origin and unknown goals who is apparently allied with the wizard Narramac in some capacity. He was first encountered by party (3) on the West Uris Road in 33rd Brightday 204. Andel was posing as a simple traveller and appeared as a tall man, in blue robes and riding a massive dappled horse - he never revealed his face, saying he was originally from Eldagaire. Andel showed an interest in the members of the party whom he had been observing for some time. He had encountered them invisibly a week earlier on their way to Uris. Andel possesses some magical power, as can be evidenced by his appearance in the place between life and death on 39th Brightday 204. Narramac said that Andel was his ally and that they worked toward the same goals. Andel was encountered again by the party (3) on 40th Suntask 204 where he revealed that his true nature to them. Andel, along with Etchen and Anwyn, was one of the three elves who revealed himself to King Yaddagon in the Spring of 204.

Anwyn: One of the three elves who appeared before King Yaddagon in the Spring of 204 to warn of the awakening of The Enemy and the coming of a second Great War.

Appeasement: Druidic ritual in which a druid placates the spirit of trees that are about to be cleared for agriculture.

Arakandal: An ancient name for the Barrowmoors in northerly Norandor. Some druids still use this name.

Arawn: A county in the duchy of Westerland. Close to Narrisham. Currently ruled by Count Tursep.

Arcanius, Petrov (Grand Druid): Grand druid of the Order. Originally from Eldagaire, Petrov travels all Urova and possibly beyond.

Arcanum Incognita: A church very big on pomp and ceremony, the arcanum incognita worships Zephyre as the god of all magic. Many wizards and sorcerers are counted within the ranks of this church. The Arcanum Incognita keeps its secrets all too well; many believe there is something wholly sinister about the church.

Archdruid: Important members of the Inner Circle of a druidic circle. Each circle has three archdruids answerable only to the great druid.

Archmortage: Metropolitan province of the Watchers on the Cusp of Oblivion ruled by an archnecrotain. An archmortage is made up of a number of parishes.

Ariadne: Human warrioress from Calclafique who joined Narramac's quest in Brightday 204. She was teamed with Carrac, Lafdan, Rashadar, Scarina and Troklin. Her prize possession, a flying carpet, was instrumental in allowing her team to snatch a wyvern egg from under the noses of the party (2) and the paladins led by Sir Garnir on 5th Brightday 204.

Ariai (Initiate): Became initiate of the Norandon Circle of the druidic Order on 25th Lollmeadow 204, after successfully completeing a quest in the Wraith Haunt. She succeeded in this endeavour with Yosef, Phezek and Olna.

Arlis: One of the soldiers in the retinue of Baron Tannith Swift who came to Bear's Reach on 30 Chillbone 204. Discovered in an alley with Mab Brewer on 32 Chillbone by Kaylas and Krais. Arlis pursued Vitor Grushko into the Whittenwood on 34 Chillbone. It is not known whether he still lives.

Arrock: Uninhabited island that sits in the Bay of Bereavement between the Arms of Uros.

Artursi, Raylon: A popular and flamboyant artistocract, Ralyon is Yaddagon XIV's fourth cousin. He wishes to become the next king and puts his case very convincingly. He has begun stepping out with the sorceress, Ravenna, causing much scandal about the court. What will come of this is unknown. On 22 Heathaze 204, Ravenna witnessed a meeting between Artusi and an agent of Alastor Helm, suggesting that all was not entirely kosher with her charming lover. The following day Artusi and Ravenna went to the Grand Conflagration to try and convince the churches that Artusi was pious enough to become the next king. This did not work.

Arvan (Druid): Half-orc druid of the Norandon Circle. Entered Narramac's great quest of Brightday 204 at the behest of Archdruid Tular. Allied with Nicos, Minsc, Elias, Ravenna and Raza, Arvan found himself the most level-headed and reasonable member of the group. It is believed that Arvan was born of violence, but this is little more than a rumour. Arvan admits to having met his mother, although he never wants to see his father; his grandfather was a cleric of fire who would have had him killed at birth as a creature of evil. He is joined in his adventures by his animal companions Carrax (a hooded crow) and Tok (a badger). A victor of the grand quest, Nicos became one of the Chosen of Narramac, Arvan has taken an unwilling role in Norandon society.
