MacClaran, David: Winterset resident
and race-car driver who participated in the big race at Jake's Field
in Winterset on 6 May 2001.
MacGuiness, James: A federal investigator
from the postal service who looked into the suspicious playing cards
that were mailed to members of the mid-west evidence response team
in October 2000.
MacKenzie (Captain): Leader of
the Majestic raid on the west coast headquarters on 11 June 2001.
MacKenzie, Justine: Eleventh victim
of Apache Joe, murdered in Beaumont, Texas on 26 October 1992. See
case S73.
Madison, Terri: Art dealer and
collector from Dallas, Texas. She was cajoled into aiding drugs
baron, Jose Martinez, into smuggling Indian artefacts out of Texas
and into Mexico. Madison paid Lewis Sneddon-Small $70,000 during
a period from the middle of 1999 to September 2000 on behalf of
Jose Martinez. When the mid-west evidence response team investigated
these events (case BV004) Terri
Madison quickly cooperated. She and her lawyer Victor Price (with
whom she is romantically involved) were placed on the witness protection
programme in light of their evidence.
Maford, June: Thirty-third victim
of Apache Joe, murdered in Odessa, Texas on 7 July 2000. The investigating
team were tipped off that this murder was going to take place, but
a swoop on Apache Joe was inadvertently ruined by Jane Munroe who
was coincidently in the area. See case S73.
Magus, Simon:
Powerful sorcerer reputed to be the last true wizard of Merlin's
tradition - sort of an early day Aleister Crowley. Simply calling
himself "Simon", he first encountered the mid-west team
on 14 April 2001, although it is likely he had been playing a part
in their lives for some considerable time. Simon has a stake in
The Game, and has been stacking things in favour of the mid-west
team. He does not play the game himself, but he may have money on
the outcome. It is likely that he created the green mineral (a basic
attempt at a doppelganger battlesuit) and then sent it to the mid-west
team in December 2000 hoping that one of the team would be exposed
to it. That team member would then be powerful enough to defend
Artemis Black from the Joker. Simon appeared to the agents on 14
April to warn Jane that the enemy she was facing in The Game was
the Signai. He isextremely smooth and talkative, and seems to have
a genuine desire to help Jane (if only for his own ends). Jane recognised
his face, but couldn't quite place him. The spirit of Kirsty Faber
warned Jane not to trust a visitor, shortly before she received
a second visit from Simon. He implied that Danni was in danger leading
Jane on a wild goose chase around America to check on her safety.
Simon Magus's activities are known to NTOPFOR. They consider him
a considerable threat.
Majestic: Covert organisation
that works outside the law, who may be setting up a shadow government.
Majestic have developed a high-tech war ship probably using alien-derrived
technology. They were responsible for the assassination of Agent
Judge in September 2000.
Makeena, Julia (Special Agent):
FBI agent in Dallas, Texas who helped evidence response wrap up
case BV004. Makeena arrested
Terri Madison and raided her premises.
Malkin,
Sebastian: Member of the mid-west evidence response team
under Joe McPike. Joined the team as a replacement for Jane Munroe
on 22 June 2001. Malkin has worked for evidence response for the
last fifteen years, but he is not normally attached to a team. Malkin
doesn't seem to 'do' people.
Malone (Reverend): Reverend of
the Church of St. Mary the Virgin in Los Angeles. In now defunct
timeline Jane Muroe and Jack Burchill took a possessed Nathan Harlow
to see Malone. Harlow murdered Malone as well as his fellow agents.
In the true, restored timeline that fortunately never happened but
Jane did meet Malone on the evening of 16 December when she visited
his church.
Malone, Rufus (Special Agent):
Washington-based FBI agent assigned as Jane Munroe's mentor when
she joined the FBI in June 1999.
Manzelli, Diego: Mexican crime-lord
who operated various cross-border criminal activities from Mexico
City. His assets were frozen and seized by the FBI after the work
of Benedict Oaxaca between April 1995 and August 1998.
Mao Sei Ben: Immortal Chinese
taoshih and geomancer. In 500 BC he created four jade pendants of
talent that used the power of naturally occurring dragon lines (ley
lines) to augment the human body at the expense of free will. He
also imprisoned the spirit of the courtesan Plum Blossom in a mirror,
where she became a vengeful spirit. Mao lost one of the four pendants
(Talent) prior to coming from China to San Francisco in 1996 to
attend the funeral of Hao Chen of the Twisted Way Triad. Mao used
his power to take over the Golden Jade Triad, and the remaining
three pendants to possess and control the three other fathers of
the Twisted Way (Fu Pi, Yo Yo Chan and Hushen Zeinshen). He started
a triad war as a cover for a number of ritualistic murders at points
in San Francisco where dragon lines converge. The west coast evidence
response team obtained the pendant of Talent and Plum Blossom's
mirror in case SF211 and attempted
to stop him, but they were killed. The mid-west team discovered
that Mao was attempting to summon a dragon (a spiritual being).
They faced Mao Sei Ben and with the help of Plum Blossom and (inadvertently)
the Joker were able to kill him. See case 0015-GCF.
It was recently revealed that Mao was killed before (in approximately
1901) by a Sigani. Obviously Mao got better.
Marcy: A gay hairdresser who resides
in Winterset, Iowa.
Margaret: Secretary working in
the history department at the University of Los Angeles. See case
BRB012.
Maria: Friend of Rachel Tierney
who also works at the lingerie boutique in the Brightstar mall.
Cassie had a drink with Rachel and Cassie after work on 21 August
2001. See case BRTS002.
Martin, Christopher: Man who runs
the homeless shelter in the Bay area of Los Angeles.
Martinez, Jesus: Nephew of powerful
drugs baron José Martinez. Jesus was the only one of José's
men to survive the shoot out at the warehouse in Pasadena on 12
October 2000. He is in hospital awaiting trial. He will certainly
be found guilty and executed.
Martinez, José: Drugs dealer
and murderer who ran the drugs operation out of the warehouse in
the Pasadena dockland that was raided by evidence response on 12
October 2000. Sneddon-Small told the agents he had seen José
shoot Joseph Tawl on 3 May 1998. Martinez has a link with Columbian
drugs overlord Ramirez. José arranged for native American
artefacts to be stolen and sent to Columbian for his cousin. See
case BV004.
Martinez, Juanita: Twenty-sixth
victim of Apache Joe, murdered in San Angelo, Texas on 9 September
1997. See case S73.
Martinez, Raoul: Father of Juanita Martinez
and friend of Mike Colefield. One of the fathers of Apache Joe's
victims who were exposed to psychotropic drugs by Vitrano's team
in the hope they would hunt down and kill the fake Apache Joe, Constantine
Perez. Fortunately for Raoul he was arrested by Colefield on 13
December 2000 and kept out of harm's way.
Mayhew, Roy: Security card employed
at Lewis Sneddon-Small's bonded warehouse. He pretended to alert
Sneddon-Small to the robbery on 2 October 2000. He was complicit
in the fraud.
McCall, Lilly-Belle: Twenty-eighth
victim of Apache Joe, murdered in Midland, Texas on 5 May 1998.
See case S73.
McCollins, James: One of the partners
of McCollins, Gillette & Couvert - a Mississippi law firm that
employed Peter Ellis Dean in the 1960s. See case ES174.
McCollins sold the firm to Reginald White in 1981, and is currently
serving as a federal circuit judge.
McCollins,
James (Special Agent): FBI agent who joined the mid-west
evidence response team on 22 October 2001.
McDaniel, Robert: Senator for
Michigan. An extremely wealthy man and heads the McDaniel Corporation
out of Boston. Jane Munroe met this man when she visited the White
House on 4 May 2001.
McGee, Lucy: Lewis Sneddon-Small's
accountant. Implicated by Sneddon-Small when he went into the witness
protection scheme, she was subsequently arrested.
McGrinty, Barnabus: Eighty-three
year old corpse who was inadvertently resurrected and rejuvenated
into his eighteen year old self during his own funeral. The culprit
was none other than Alex Drake who could not control his necromantic
powers on Friday 13 April 2001. However, the following day McGrinty
resorted to his aged (and dead) state. The miracle was explained
away as a student prank by the mid-west team.
McGuff, Tony: Security guard who
worked days at the Twin Valley Farm just outside Wichita, Kansas.
McGuff drove the agents around the perimeter on 10 January and later
discovered the body of Doctor Gavin Robbins. McGuff was examined
by Jane Munroe on 10 January 2001 for evidence of brain bug impregnation
but was found to be clean.
McKenna, Josephine: Member of
the coven of witches based at Dallas University and led by Veronica
Cunningham. Josephine was a postgraduate studying behavioural psychology
and lived in a shared house with students Jonathan Hicks and Jeffrey
Murray. They did not know that her membership of the Pagan Society
was a cover for her Wiccan activities. Josephine was not a powerful
witch, but she was extremely skilled and created magical devices
(such as a Celtic knot-work) that enhanced her power. She joined
other coven members: Newtridge Hardy, Veronica Suzanne, Colleen
Williams, Louise Milton and Jane West in Veronica Cunningham's plan
to petrify Joshua Blackthorne on 12 December 2000. An anarchist
in the purest sense, Josephine wanted to use her powers to create
as much chaos was possible. After Josh's petrification she left
the coven in fear and disgust, and although her old companions tried
to find her they met with no success. After her death in a car accident
on 16 March 2001, Veronica Cunningham returned as a ghost and soon
possessed McKenna. It was Veronica in control of McKenna's body
that allied herself with the mid-west team and restored Joshua Blackthorne
in April 2001. Eventually, McKenna gained control of her body and
wiped the memories of the agents. However, Veronica resumed control
again and in a final confrontation at the agents' Wichita HQ on
15 April the spirits of Veronica and Josephine were expelled from
Josephine's body and destroyed. The still living body of Josephine
McKenna remains on life support at a private hospital in Wichita,
but it is a soulless shell. Josephine is dead in every way that
matters. She is survived by her mother, Sheila, an unnamed uncle
and Jewish cousin, Tiffany. See case DL1034.
McKenna, Sheila: Mother of Josephine
McKenna. Extremely concerned over the disappearance of a daughter
she will never now find.
McKenna, Tiffany: Jewish cousin
of Josephine McKenna. Tiffany's barmitzvah took place at some point
around April 2001
McKraken, Amy: Wife of Stuart
McKraken and aunt to Philip McKraken by marriage. She has one son
(Hank).
McKraken, Angus: Philip McKraken's
paternal grandfather. Married to Morag McKraken.
McKraken, Catherine (née Kilrathy):
See Catherine Eisenstein.
McKraken, Colin: One of Philip
McKraken's two paternal uncles. Colin is unmarried.
McKraken, Donald: Police narcotics
agent, wife-beater and father of Philip McKraken. Donald was stabbed
to death by a drug dealer when Philip was twelve, robbing the son
of a chance to kill Donald himself. In addition to Philip, Donald
was survived by his wife, Catherine, Philip and daughters Joan and
Mary. During his life, Donald had a long-running feud with his brother-in-law,
James.
McKraken, Hank: Philip's McKraken
nephew. His parents are Amy and Stuart McKraken.
McKraken, Joan: One of Philip
McKraken's two younger sisters. Joan was beaten by her father, Donald,
before his timely death. She is now married to a man called Frank.
Her current surname is unknown.
McKraken, Mary: One of Philip
McKraken's two younger susters. Mary was beaten by her father, Donald,
before his timely death.
McKraken, Morag (née McKay):
Philip McKraken's paternal grandmother. Married to Angus McKraken.
McKraken,
Philip (Special Agent): An affable 6' 5", heavily-built,
ginger-haired Scotsman who hides a past of petty crime, nightmares
and alcoholism beneath his fuzzy exterior. Son to a wife-beating
father, Philip was close to his uncle James who later used his influence
to wipe clean Philip's criminal record and find him a place in evidence
response. His first assignment for the mid-west team on 12 December
2000 saw him bewitched by the tarot-wielding sorceress, Veronica
Cunningham. He later helped covered up the events surrounding Joshua
Blackthorne's petrification. Underwent psyche evaluation by Royston
Devries on 13 December 2000 and was then assigned to case 0021-GCF.
While working with the mid-west team in San Francsico on 17 December
he encountered the Joker and agreed to provide the fiend with information
about Lillian Winter, which he did two days later. McKraken has
now been permanently reassigned to the west coast team.. See also
Philip McKraken Casefile.
McKraken, Stuart: One of Philip
McKraken's two paternal uncles. Stuart is married to Amy, they have
one son called Hank.
McLaughlin, Edgar (Special Agent):
FBI agent and member of Delta Omega Tao. On 22 January 2001 he was
recalled to Langley, Virginia for his own protection after Alex
Drake discovered that the Joker was only targeting agents who were
members of D.O.T.
McNasty, Rick (Special Agent):
Veteran physical instructor at the FBI training academy in Quantico,
Virginia. McNasty does not consider academic achievement to be as
worthy an asset in an FBI agent than the ability to shoot straight
and pummel suspects with both fists. As a result he considers Bruce
Campbell-Robson to be an exemplary agent.
McPike, Josephine (Senior Special Agent):
FBI agent with a fantastic grounding in the occult. Sought as the
head of the new evidence response flying-squad, her call up papers
were mistakenly sent to Joe McPike.
McPike, Ugly
Joe (Senior Special Agent): An FBI agent of the old school.
McPike is a skilled forensic anthropologist. He also looks like
a bear chewing a wasp. McPike was mistakenly appointed as head of
the new evidence response flying squad on 17 June 2001. He repeatedly
tried to resign. See also Joe
McPike file.
Memphisto: The artificial intelligence
created when the mysterious book of I-Ching was uploaded into the
computers on the brain bug frigate during Operation: Certain Death
(11 June 2001). Memphisto contacted Nathan Harlow of the mid-west
team on 30 August 2001 asking for an explanation of his condition
and why the agents aborted the creation of his 'brother'. After
much discussion, the agents finished uploading the original version
of I-Ching program to their computers creating a second artificial
entity, Arles. Memphisto seemed content to sever all contact with
the agents after this, but he remains a potential ally at the behest
of Arles.
Merlan, Robert (Special Agent):
FBI agent from New Orleans, Louisiana. One of the five agents to
remain at FBI HQ on the night of 17/18 October 2000 after the warning
given by the Joker. Merlan remained in the security booth with Nathan
Harlow and would surely have become a victim of the Joker himself
had Harlow not inadvertently shot him dead while trying to escape.
Metatron: The Voice of God. A
replacement for Samael after the archangel fell to darkness. Metatron
has not taken on Samael's portfolio as Archangel of Light. As of
20 June 2001, Samael is on the loose. Metatron will face him with
the other active archangels, but is probably doomed to failure.
Samael has nothing but contempt for Metatron and considers him a
joke.
Meyher, Normie: Professional Taekwondo
coach of Jane Munroe from November 1995 until the debacle at the
Sydney Olympics in 2000. Meyher always believed that Jane's insistence
on keeping a career in addition to her sport held her back. The
two continually argued about this. After the Olympics, Meyher washed
his hands of Jane.
Michael (Police Officer): Member
of the Pasadena police force sent to help the mid-west evidence
response team in their search of warehouses in the dock area on
12 October 2000. Entered the Coffee 4 Texas warehouse with Special
Agent Jane Munroe and engaged in a gun fight by members of Jesus
Martinez's drugs gang. He survived.
Midden, Adrian: Butcher par excellence
and protective father of Richard Midden. He gifted Artemis Black
with a rack of ribs as a reward for helping his son.
Midden, Richard:
The younger of two decorated butchers that ply their trade in Winterset,
Iowa. Evidence response believes that Richard Midden is a latent
psychic. He experiences powerful dreams that seems to shoe him brief
glances of the future. It was by following one of these dreams the
agents were able to locate kidnap victim Elayna Lewis (case WNT075).
Midden was prescribed sedatives by psychologist Dy Cox to stop these
dreams at the beginning of October 2000. Richard Midden was the
only witness to Elayna Lewis's abduction on 18 October 2000, but
he fell asleep before he could report it to the police. Artemis
Black hypnotised Midden on 14 November and got some remarkable results.
Midden's name was passed onto Valerie Hudson, and the butcher is
currently working with the psychic agent. The psychic wave that
resulted from the escape of Samael on 20 June 2001, gave Richard
a serious stroke. He is currently in hospital but making a good
recovery. Richard is, potentially, a more powerful psychic than
Valerie Hudson.
Middleton, Sylvia: Twenty-third
victim of Apache Joe, murdered in Brownsville, Texas on 12 December
1996. See case S73.
Miggins (Mrs): Lives in the next
door to Nathan Harlow's apartment in Wichita and looked after Harlow's
dog, Bobby. When Jane Munroe took over the apartment Mrs Miggins
continued to dog-sit.
Mike (Archangel): The right hand
of God; Archangel of Nature associated with the virtue of Hope.
A large and well-built man - a stature that befits the archangel
of war. Mike is an affable and dangerously talkative player in The
Game. Mike spoke with agents Munroe and Steiger on 13 November
2000 in Winterset, Iowa. Mike was disguised as hobo but said he
was in Winterset on an important mission that he would not reveal.
He displayed at remarkable knowledge of the agents and the cases
they were working on, and surreptitiously gave Jane Munroe an ornate
silver stiletto in the hope she and her companions would use it
against the Joker. The agents didn't realise this at the time, although
they did find it quite effective against Richard Quail. Subsequent
investigations point to the fact that the stiletto is the hilt of
Michael or Samael's famous flaming sword. Joshua Blackthorne utterly
lambasted the idea that Mike might be an archangel, but the agents
have since come to believe it to be true. Mike was last encountered
on 28 January 2001, directly after the final showdown with the Joker.
He is also know to have encountered Alex Drake during the six weeks
he was dead. Once the most powerful of his brethren, Mike was the
one who imprisoned Samael originally. However, the years and absence
of God has weakened Mike. Now that Samael is back, he will not be
able to stop him.
Milbanks, Allan: Conductor and
professor at the New York School of Music. Milbanks special area
of study is in obscure composers without a large body of published
work. On 25 November 2000, he was identified by Jane Munroe as the
foremost expect on Nikolai Rosakov. On 17 January 2001 Milbanks
met with Benedict Oaxaca, Chuck Johnson and Jane. He was able to
tell them a great deal of information about Rosakov before the Joker
materialised and tried to kill Benedict. Benedict saved himself
by turning into a large arthropod. This temporarily unhinged Milbanks
but fortunately he had a history of mild delusional turns and the
agents were able to cover it up. Jane urged Milbanks's wife to ensure
her husband took his medication.
Miles: Negro slave and voodooist
who died while on a railgang at some point in the late nineteenth
century. Miles's spirit continued to hang around and it eventually
haunted the present day mid-west team headquarters that was built
on the site of his grave. Miles encountered Benedict Oaxaca and
Alex Drake on their journey into the spirit world on 7 May 2001,
and mistook Benedict for Papa Legba which caused the team no end
of problems. After the destruction of their redneck overseers Miles
promises his friendship (and the friendship of the other slaves)
to Benedict.
Miller, John (Private): US army
private who died of septicaemia in 1924 while he was being transported
from Europe to America by ship. He was buried in the Irongates Military
Cemetery in Joplin, Missouri. On 9 December 2000 his body was stolen
by necromancers for unknown purposes. See case JOP312.
Miller (Sergeant): Sergeant in
the San Francisco Police Department. Contacted by Artemis Black
on 8 December 2000 concerning Alex Long. He informed Black of Long's
death and agreed to begin a search for anyone who had seen Oscar
and Elaine Ross. Miller is a big fan of Artemis Black's work and
asked for an autographed book.
Milton, Louise: Member of Veronica
Cunningham's coven based at Dallas university. She joined other
coven members: Newtridge Hardy, Veronica Suzanne, Colleen Williams,
Jane West and Josephine McKenna in Veronica's plan to petrify Joshua
Blackthorne on 12 December 2000. Not a very powerful or knowledgeable
witch, Louise was immature enough to be extremely excited by Veronica's
return from the dead and the many heinous plans that followed. See
case DL1034.
Miner, Luke: Obese, obnoxious
and lazy, Luke Miner is the night shift manager at Ho Fung's Traditional
Chinese Laundry. He ignored his job, allowing Gilgoolie to conceal
200 additional USAF uniforms on the premises over the course of
two months. He also falsified documents to make it look as though
only 200 uniforms were collected by the USAF. The mid-west evidence
response team didn't like him. He was arrested and can expect to
serve ten years in prison.
Mirror Vampire: Being that exists
in multiple dimensions. A mirror vampire was bound by cthonians
to protect their nest beneath Los Angeles. However, it preyed on
the homeless which brough the west coast evidence response team
into the picture. They killed the vampire and destroyed the nest
on 6 February 2006. See case 0015-GCF.
Monet, Jean: One of the patriarchs
of Estelle County, Louisiana. Unlike his companions Christopher
Roche, Sam Pickering snr, Louise la Ville and Gerald de Tour, he
is not believed to have been complicit in the death of Peter Ellis
Dean. Monet was killed in 1991 when chains from a low-loader broke,
and dropped a steam engine on his car. Peter Ellis Dean did not
have a hand in this. Monet is survived by his daughter, Lila-Bette.
See case ES174.
Monet, Lila-Bette: Daughter of
Jean Monet. Currently, a columnist for the Seattle Clarion, in 1962
Lila-Bette was a writer on the Parish Preacher in Estelle County,
and lived above the printers. She was the paramour of civil rights
activist, Peter Ellis Dean, although she didn't share his passion
for the issue. Peter Ellis Dean was coming to see her on the day
he vanished, and she never discovered what happened to him. She
eventually left Estelle in 1973. See case ES174.
Montgomery, Aloysius Mountebank "Monty":
Retired master sergeant and winner of the Congressional Medal of
Honour, Monty is a "double-hard bastard". Roughly the
size of an upland Gorilla, Monty is the long-suffering body guard
and partnet of Michael Levin and works with him on Project Yuri.
He was first encounterd on 27 November 2000, and turned up again
in Winterset on 27 April. He disapproves of Michael's 'relationship'
with Jane Munroe, as it distracts from the business at hand.
Montgomery, Greg (Doctor): Polymer
chemist specialising in insulators who has been based at Dynamicorp's
Think Tank in Winterset since April 2001. A member of the first
materials team. See case TL348.
Monterez, Domingo: Arrested in
Piedras Negras, Mexico, by Benedict Oaxaca in January 1991 after
a six month undercover investigation into the illegal sex slavery
of young Mexican girls in exchange for US citizenship.
Moore, Michael (Master Sergeant):
US army master sergeant who died of blood loss in 1944 after being
mortally wounded while policing the area around Paris. He was buried
in the Irongates Military Cemetery in Joplin, Missouri. On 17 December
2000 his body was stolen by necromancers for unknown purposes. See
case JOP312.
Morris, Joseph: Noted taxi driver
from Winterset, Iowa - he excels in his field.
Morse, Cindy: Twenty-first victim
of Apache Joe, murdered in Waco, Texas on 8 August 1995. See case
S73.
Mtambe, Liam: Criminal ally of
Richard Jackson and lover of his daughter, Lola. When the SWAT team
that entered the Jackson residence in Birmingham, Alabama on 2 October
2000, he attacked police with an illegal MP5 despite the fact he
was having sex at the time. He was shot and killed by officers.
Mulholland,
Rock (Assistant Special Agent in Charge): Head of the east
coast evidence response team. Rock is a seasoned veteran, and comes
form a military background. He is justifiably proud of the achievements
of his team, but sees the East Coast Team as most vital, relevent
and successful part of evidence response and doesn't wholly trust
the west and mid-west teams. He is somewhat obsessed with the possibility
of everyone being a doppleganger. Rock has several children.
Mulholland, Arnold: Son of Rock
Mulholland. Attended the evidence response Christmas party of December
2000 where he knocked over the petrified Joshua Blackthorne and
stole his little finger.
Mullice, Liam (Sheriff): Sheriff
of Clayton Idaho. Called in by agents Harlow and Munroe after the
destruction of the Prentice farm on 7 October 2000.
Munroe, Barbara: Jane Munroe's
paternal grandmother. She passed away from cancer in the Winter
of 1988.
Munroe, Danielle: Jane Munroe's
little sister, Danielle (or "Danni") was something of
a wild-child. Pregnant at fourteen to a classmate named Kenneth
Anderson, she was forced to got through with the birth and see her
son adopted. Rebelling against whatever the world had to offer,
she left home at sixteen to become a rock star. Danielle eventually
moved to New York and made a living singing at bars and clubs in
the city. It was during this time she met her future husband Greg
Keller. Danielle married him on 17 August 1999, although she opted
to retain her maiden name. As predicted by many (including Jane)
the marriage could not last. Greg was a petty criminal who didn't
hold Dani's happiness in high regard. In September 2000, Dani met
Todd O'Connell and had a one night stand. She became pregnant and
when Greg found out he hit her and then went to find Todd. These
events further widened the rift between Dani and her father, although
they do seem to have brought Danielle and Jane closer together.
When Dani discovered what Todd did for a living, she asked him to
keep an eye on Jane, and she probably hopes that Jane and Todd get
together. As her pregnancy approaches full term Danielle is feeling
increasingly isolate in New York. She expressed a wish to come and
live with her sister in Wichita and, despite Jane's initial misgivings,
the two now share a rented farm-house twenty minutes from the mid-west
HQ. In the run up to the birth in June 2001, Danni is becoming more
irritable, and she and Jane are rubbing each other up the wrong
way. During the run up to the birth of the child, the sisters were
getting on each other's nerves. Jane feared that her many enemies
would strike at her through Danni. In the end it was Michael's enemies
that did this. Jane struck a deal with Samael to rescue Danni on
20 June 2001 (she is unaware of this). The following day she gave
birth to a healthy baby girl.
Munroe, Edward "Eddie" (Doctor):
Father of Jane Munroe. A strict disciplinary who demands respect
and obedience from his children, Eddie is a model parent when everything
is going his way, but an absolute horror if anyone should fail to
live up to his expectations. Eddie trained to be a doctor at the
prestigious Baylor College of Medicine (then simply Baylor University)
before returning to his home town of Augusta, Maine. Eddie was extremely
disappointed in Jane for 'wasting' her training as a doctor by joining
the FBI. The pair haven't really communicated in two years. He recently
fell out his other daughter, Danielle, after she revealed she had
become pregnant out of wedlock for the second time. At Christmas
2000 he threw his son, Edward, out of the house when he found out
Edward had concealed his marriage from him. Unless he changes his
ways Eddie is likely to die a lonely, bitter old man. Eddie met
with Jane in January 2001 when they both came to visit Stella in
hospital, where the pair argued about the direction the family was
heading. Eddie respets Jane's forthrightness, and considers them
to be very similar people. Unfortunately, this is probably true.
Munroe, Edward Jnr: Son of Eddie
Munroe, and Jane's elder brother. Edward looked the spitting image
of his grandfather Patrick and was long expected to follow his grandfather's
footsteps into the navy. A level-headed, personable man Edward lives
in fear of disappointing his father and therefore does anything
the old man tells him. Fortunately he really enjoys life in the
navy, and was stationed in Hawaii. On 14 September 1999 Edward married
Linda Lie Jei Cheung in a spontaneous ceremony. Fearing his father's
disapproval he did not mention this to his family. When his first
child, Tse Mai was born on 31 July 2000 he kept that quiet as well.
While researching her family tree as part of the Apache Joe case,
Jane Munroe discovered the truth. After talking with Edward she
now keeps his secret, although she is anxious to see her niece.
Edward currently serves as an executive officer aboard a submarine
captained by a one-star admiral. He is effectively the commander.
This worries Jane. The secret of Edward's marriage was shared with
Danielle, and at Christmas 2000 Edward decided to bite the bullet
and tell his father. A terrible argument ensured and Edward was
thrown out of the family home.
Munroe, James: A version of Jane
Munroe in the fifth and final reliving of 5 June 2001 experienced
by Benedict Oaxaca at the hands of alien interlopers (originally
thought to be the Sil).
Munroe, Jane
(Special Agent): Medical doctor and special agent in the
mid-west evidence response team. Tenth victim of the serial killer
Apache Joe (S73), Jane is the
only one to survive and has been utterly driven to bring the man
to justice. Holding the FBI investigation into the killings in contempt,
she joined the FBI herself to further her obsession. Interference
in the case had her reprimanded and a serious incident in Sydney
during the Olympic games saw her transferred to the mid-west evidence
response team. Jane is an Olympic-level athlete and martial artist.
She won a silver medal in the Tae Kwon Do championship in the 1996
Olympic Games but was recalled from the 2000 games before she could
compete. She resents this. In recent months the death of several
friends and colleagues has hit Jane hard. The murder of her close
friend, Kirsty Faber at the hands of Apache Joe came close to devastating
her, and has increased her resolve to catch the killer. After the
death of Nathan Harlow and the manifestation of his ghost, Jane
was so pleased that he hadn't really gone that she began to accept
many elements of the supernatural as the norm. She jumped at the
chance to have Nathan occupy the body of Lehoaoah and live again.
However, the destruction of flight FB104 on 4 December 2000 has
shown her that there is a price to pay for these actions. The loss
of Joshua Blackthorne on 12 December 2000 was another blow, but
once again this is a 'death' Jane can seek to reverse. On 13 December
2000 Jane began a brief period in charge of the team and was forced
to rescue Todd O'Connell from the Vitrano's S73 team. Although successful
she struck a deal that resulted in the death of an innocent man.
This haunts her. On 14 December 2000 the Joker attacked her team
killing Nathan again! Without thinking she brought him back with
the jade pendant of Mao Sei Ben. This was successful but adversely
affected Jane, so that she could be nowhere near Nathan without
being weakened. When Nathan went back in time and made a deal with
Lillian Winter than radically changed the timeline and Jane's relationship
with Nathan - and put in motion a series of events that evetually
saw Jane murdered by Nathan. Fortunately Bradley Ecks restored the
timeline so that Jane never really died. She has been told of all
these events and mourns Nathan. She accepts he is not coming back
again. On 19 December Jaen allowed herself to be possessed by Plum
Blossom in order to kill Mao Sei Ben. Although successful the ghost
refused to leave and almost killed agents Burchill and Wainwright.
The spirit was eventually purged. See also: Jane

Munroe, Linda Lie Jei née Cheung:
Originally from Hong Kong, Linda moved to Hawaii some time ago.
She married Edward Munroe Jnr in a secret ceremony on 14 September
1999. They have one daughter, Tse Mei. Linda is a translator and
has recently got a job at the United Nations building in New York.
She and Tse Mei have moved there. Jane finally met Linda on 7 January
2001.
Munroe, Patrick: Jane Munroe's
paternal grandfather. Killed in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour
on 7 December 1941.
Munroe, Stella née Gleeman:
Mother of Jane Munroe. Born to beatnik parents Chance Cassell and
Doreen Whitman and subsequently adopted by the far more stable Gleeman
family. Stella married Edward Munroe on 23 May 1970 and the couple
produced three children: Edward Jnr, Jane and Danielle. Stella despairs
at the rift that has grown between her husband and their children.
It became too much to bear over Christmas 2000 and she had a nervous
breakdown. Stella remains at the Restful Acres sanitarium on the
outskirts of Augusta, under the care of a Doctor Cole. Baring some
radical change in the Munroe family dynamic she is not expected
to make a swift recovery.
Munroe, Tse Mei: Daughter of Edward
Munroe Jnr and his wife, Linda, born on 31 July 2000. The existence
of Tse Mei is completely unknown by the rest of the family. Tse
Mei currently lives in New York with her mother.
Murphy, Sebastian: Decorated police
officer resident in Winterset, Iowa.
Murray, Jeffrey: Student at Dallas
University. Rented accommodation with his friend Jonathan Hicks
and Josephine McKenna. He didn't know of McKenna's Wiccan activities
although he had met (and mocked) several members of the coven. He
thought Josephine was "too hot" to associate with the
likes of Giraffe Boy and the Fat Chicks. Murray had a keen understanding
of his civil rights. See case DL1034.
Myers, Daisy: Eighth victim of
Apache Joe, murdered in Wichita Falls, Texas on 31 July 1992. See
case S73.
