Kaczmarek: Head of the Ukrainian
Mafia in Newark directly before Petrov Kryzhanovsky and probably
murdered by his successor.
Kai: Enigmatic member of the San
Francisco Yakuza based at the Lucky Dragon Casino. He met with Jane
Munroe on the evening of 17 December 2000 to discuss how to stop
Mao Sei Ben. However, Kai was so cryptic that Jane came away from
the interview believing she had learned nothing.
Kant, Jenson: Member of the Department
of Agriculture who secretly works on Project Yuri with Michael Levin.
Kant was a very experienced agent who was working to take down a
brain bug cell on the east coast when the team was infected. The
team later returned to base. Kant was able to get through decon
without being revealed as a carrier because he has a metal pin in
his leg that makes an MRI scan impossible. In a version of 20 June
2001, that was subsequently rewritten by Samael, Kant was among
those who kidnapped Danni Munroe and murdered Todd O'Connell. It
was believed that this was an attempt to get at Michael Levin through
his girlfriend. Even though those events never happened, Kant remained
at large and could compromise a large amount of the DoA's operations.
However, he was killed by Monty on 21 June when he and other possessed
agents went after Danni again.
Kariskoff, Mikhail (General):
Ukrainian general mistaken for Apache Joe by Jane Munroe in September
2000 and pursued through the streets of Sydney. The subsequent international
incident was covered up by the American government.
Kass, Kara: According to Agent
Hudson, Kass is potentially the thirty-seventh victim of Apache
Joe and will be killed in Val Verde, Texas on 5 April 2001 unless
the agents prevent it.
Keith (Police Officer): Member
of the Pasadena police force sent to help the mid-west evidence
response team in their search of warehouses in the dock area on
12 October 2000. Entered the Coffee 4 Texas warehouse with Special
Agent Jane Munroe and was subsequently gunned down by members of
Jesus Martinez's drugs gang.
Keffer, Hal (Detective): Detective
in charge of the Fairbanks missing persons case in New York. He
is an old and severe, but fit and healthy (probably from continually
climbing all the stairs to his fifth floor office). Keffer was not
comfortable with the FBI and would only offer help up to the letter
of the law and no more. He discouraged the agents from Helen Carter
in their meeting of 13 May 2001.
Keftan: An alien race. The brain
bug controlled vessel boarded by evidence response on 11 June 2006
had some Keftan technology.
Keller (Private First Class):
With Private James collected 400 USAF uniforms from Ho Fung's Chinese
Laundry in Wichita, Kansas on 3 August 2000 and took them back to
MacConnell Airforce base. En route he stopped at a diner run by
Juicy Lucy.
Keller, Greg: Professional lounge
lizard who acted as Danielle Munroe's 'manager' while she was singing
in the bars and clubs of New York city. The pair became engaged
in the autumn of 1998 and married on 17 August 1999, despite the
objections of Dani's sister, Jane. Keller is a petty criminal with
possible links to organised crime. It did not take long for the
marriage to get into difficulty. In September 2000 Danielle had
a one night stand with Todd O'Connell and became pregnant. When
Greg found out in November he beat the identity of the father out
of Dani and went after him. He was apprehended by police in Flagstaff,
Arizona on 17 January 2001 and admitted to his plan to castrate
Todd. He was subsequently sectioned and locked up. Divorce proceedings
are currently under way.
Kelson (Special Agent): FBI agent
and member of internal affairs. With Agent Rolson he interviewed
Jane Munroe on one version of 4 June 2001 following the explosion
at Wichita airport.
Kelly (Senator): Iowa senator
who approaches Artemis Black on the evening of 16 December 2000
and offered him a place as his running mate in the 2005 presidential
elections.
Kelly, Barry: Head of the copperworker's
union in Casper, Wyoming and husband of Doris Kelley. He called
his men out on strike after the accident that killed fifteen miners
on 22 October 2000. Kelly did not support charges of corruption
levelled against the mining authority, to him the strike was for
better hazard pay. Interviewed by the mid-west evidence response
team on 6 December 2000. See case CS1473-IND.
Kelley, Doris: Sister of Leroy
Bryce and wife of Barry Kelley. Doris did not like her brother much,
and tried to avoid him. She took possession of his belongings after
his death, and aided evidence response's investigations on 11 December
2000. See case CS1473-IND.
Khedive: Name given to the military
ruler of Cairo before the British took over at the end of the nineteenth
century. See Mushah Al-Rhabin.
Kilrathy, Alison: Daughter of
Philip and Maeve McKraken who died when she was eight years old.
Kilrathy, James: Philip McKraken's
maternal uncle with a mysterious government job. Very close to Philip,
he used to read the boy pages from suspicious tomes during his youth.
This closeness was one of the things that led to a feud between
James and Donald McKrake - that and the fact that Donald was beating
James's sister, Catherine. Together with "Uncle Conrad"
James suggested that Philip join the FBI's evidence response unit.
Kilrathy, John: Maternal uncle
of Philip McKraken. Married to Sue.
Kilrathy, Maeve (née Armstrong):
Philip McKraken's maternal grandmother.
Kilrathy, Philip: Philip McKraken's
maternal grandfather.
Kilrathy, Sue: Maternal aunt to
Philip McKraken by marriage. Married to John Kilrathy.
Kipling, Joseph (Major): Surgeon
based at the Texas Ranger base where Albert Johnson was accidentally
killed in 1991. Kipling autopsied Johnson's body and determined
he was dead, odd considered Johnson went on to have ten scalp-happy
years as Apache Joe.
Kithgoe (Special Agent): FBI agent
based on Hawaii. Accompanied Elijah Stone to Island Kahoolawe to
deal with squatters on 15 November 2000.
Kitty, Giles (Special Agent):
Ninth victim of the latest Joker killings. He was murdered on 18
October 2000 at the FBI headquarters in New Orleans, Louisiana.
He was cut in half and ritually mutilated while locked in the armoury.
The corresponding playing card, sent to the mid-west evidence response
team was the 3 of Hearts, the bottom half of which was cut to pieces.
The card was found with 5 of Spades (Sam Snift's death) and 2 of
Spades (Nathan Harlow's death) and 4 of Hearts (Giles Kitty's death).
Kotoflaxomoitia (Queen): Mummy
of an ancient Egyptian queen held at the museum on Kodiak Island.
Kotoflaxomoitia came to life and almost wiped out the North-West
team. She was destroyed by Dirk Brunswick.
Kowalski, Hugh: Employee of Mayfords
Electronics who worked on retainer for Ho Fung's Traditional Chinese
Laundry. He worked nights, keeping the machines in order but in
actual fact he had to do much of the work the lazy Luke Miner couldn't
be bothered to do.
Kray, Prentice: An oil-baron who
lived a Howard Hughes-esque existence at a fortified house in the
Fort Worth area before his death in 1996. Kray donated the money
for Prentice Hall, that was built at Dallas University in the 1960s.
K'tai: An alien
race also known as the doppelgangers. They hid from the Shaggai
when the bugs first came to their world. Eventually they were discovered
and, even though they are immune to brain-bug possession, forced
to flee. Members of this race first crash landed on Earth more than
5000 years on the Signai ship that was fleeing the Shaggai. The
K'tai are shapechangers and use their advanced understanding of
biology to produce many devices that augment this ability - such
as the infamous doppelganger battlesuit. The east coast evidence
response team has had several run-ins with the doppelgangers. This
led to the creation of the "doppelganger-protocols" where
agents need to provide a blood sample once per month to prove they
are who they say they are.
Kryzhanovsky, Petrov: Head of
the Ukrainian Mafia in Newark. Kryzhanovsky took over the running
of the group in May 2000, and was responsible for them pushing into
Newark and starting the turf war with the Polish mafia. He is almost
certainly brain bug possessed and probably the source of brain bugs
that possessed the rest of the inner circle. Kryzhanovsky is currently
being monitored by the Department of Agriculture. See cases NW988
and 0017-GCF.
