Hal the Gas Man: Gas-pump attendant
at The West House - a truck stop and notable dive on the outskirts
of Dallas, Texas. Hal told Alex Drake that he saw Josephine McKenna
getting a lift with trucker Old Nev on 10 April 2001. He even helped
trace Old Nev's route through Wichita. See case DL1034.
Halborough, Emma (Doctor): Resident
of an alternative reality. She signed off on the death warrants
of Jane Munroe, Artemis Black, Alex Drake and Nathan Harlow of that
reality.
Hall: Administrator of the county
morgue in Joplin, Missouri.
Hamblin
III, Alan: Forty-two year old purveyor of occult tomes and
resident archivist at the Los Angeles central library. He is on
the evidence response payroll, and was Eisenstein's source for the
Celaeno Fragments that was read by Artemis Black. Hamblin
had mastered some magic and opened a time portal in his office that
caused no end of trouble (see Time Travel).
He used this portal to travel to the past to obtain priceless artefacts
and scrolls, learn ancient prophecies and even create a few for
himself. Hamblin posted Artemis Black a copy of the Book
of Entrance from London on 23 November 2000 and turned up
dead in the snow in Casper, Wyoming a little over two weeks later.
He had been kidnapped by brain-bug possessed Ukrainian commandos
who forced him to transport their attack helicopter to the United
States. In December 2000, the agents searched Hamblin's home and
discovered a number of original scrolls such as the hieroglyphs
of Horus-Ra from ancient Luxor. Despite being dead, his continuel
time travelling has meant that much of Hamblin's past is still in
the agents' future. He was last encountered by the mid-west team
on 23 May 2001, when he reported that he had just come from a 2011
when Artemis Black was president. On this occasion he gave agents
another copy of his hieroglyphs
underlining their importance. In an imagined version of 5 June 2001,
Hamblin organised artefacts from the Duquesne collection to be displayed
in Wichita. Jane contacted Hamblin on 20 June 2001 to appeal for
his help in saving Todd and rescuing her sister. Hamblin refused,
but let slip that he cannot time travel while the door is buried
beneath the west coast HQ. It is only a matter of time before the
agents meet him again. See cases 0015-GCF
and 0019-GCF.
Hanson, Albert "Al" (Sheriff):
Sheriff from Estelle County, Louisiana. Contact for the mid-west
team on case ES174. Due to
the strange nature of the car recovered from the bayou Hanson was
genuinely surprised when the agents displayed the will power to
take it away on 17 May 2001.
Harben, Oscar
(Assistant Special Agent in Charge): The first head of the
west coast evidence response team who served in that role for many
years. He died in 1995 and was replaced by Alan Cummings. In his
will, Harben left his house and the mysterious Butler, Schult, to
evidence response on the proviso that they asked no questions.
Harding,
Yamamoto (Special Agent): Third in command of the North-East
evidence response team based in Augusta, Maine. Harding attended
the University of Hawaii. He is a psychologist who subscribes to
the Artemis Black way of thinking, and he recently attended the
inaugural Artemis Black's International Symposium on Aberrant Psychology
in the south of France. Harding's own book: Yamamoto's Little
Purple Book: Ten Things Not to do with People You Know has become
a modest bestseller in its own right.
Hardy, Newtridge: Also known as
"Giraffe Boy" because of his long neck, Newt was the only
male member of Veronica Cunningham's coven of witches based at Dallas
University. The coven also included Josephine McKenna, Veronica
Suzanne, Colleen Williams Louise Milton and Jane West. Newt shared
a filthy student room on campus with Leon Carter. He was questioned
by the mid-west team on 10 April 2001 regarding the location of
Josephine McKenna. He immediately began coughing up beetles and
soon died. The agents suspect this was a 'failsafe' spell placed
on Newt by Josephine McKenna to keep him from talking. See case
DL1034.
Harlow, "Fit" (Special Agent):
The version of Nathan Harlow from an alternative timeline that made
a deal with Lilith, shot Kennedy, killed himself as an infant, murdered
Jane and Alex Drake and who burned when he tried to enter a church.
He was subsequently killed. On 10 June 2001, Fit Harlow was given
his own ambulation when all three versions of the agent were resurrected.
Each share the same soul, but only one is real - the others being
a formless spawn or a demon. The Michael Hunt persona was recently
revealed as a formless spawn, so what of Fit Harlow. See also: Nathan
Harlow Casefile and Time Travel.
Harlow, Nathan
(Special Agent): Member of mid-west evidence response team.
A computer-jockey with an amazing appetite for pornography and fast
cars. He was born and raised as the only white kid in Harlem. Formerly
of the Carnivore Diagnostic Tool Unit he - and everyone else in
the unit - were moved when Harlow's superior was indicted for conspiracy
to blackmail a prominent politician. For his own safety Harlow and
his St Bernard, Bobby, were moved to the mid-west evidence response
team. Harlow's stint in the team was brief but memorable: he was
the one who instigated the Birmingham Race Riots of 2 October 2000.
Harlow was killed in a most horrific manner in New Orleans on 18
October 2000 by the supernatural fiend known as the Joker. The corresponding
playing card, sent to the mid-west evidence response team was the
2 of Spades. However, Harlow's spirit remained on this plane, convinced
that it knew some important clue to the Joker's identity. On 2 December
2000 Jane Munroe directed Harlow to a living body that had been
vacated by its spirit. Harlow was able to possess the 64-year old
emaciated frame of a Hawaiian cahuna called Lehoaoah. Harlow now
lives again, although it is probable the spirit of the cahuna is
none too happy about this. Harlow's new identity in this body is
Special Agent Michael Hunt. On 4 December 2000, Harlow was attacked
by the Joker again while flying to Alaska. He survived the experience
and the subsequent plane crash. He was released from hospital on
11 December and soon discovered that his real identity was known
to the team investigating the Apache Joe case. on 14 December 2000
Harlow crossed paths with the Joker again and was killed. He was
subsequently revived in his old body by Jane with the jade pendant
of talent, but this proved only a temporary state. He stepped through
a time portal on 16 December and was killed. He saved himself with
an ill-considered deal with Lillian Winter that changed the timeline
and ultimately led to Jane's death. Harlow was killed by a time-travelling
Bradley Ecks who succeeded in restoring the original timeline. On
10 June 2001, Nathan was resurrected along with Michael Hunt and
a Fit version of himself from another timeline. This was the work
of Lilith. All three share one soul and only one is the real McCoy.

harlow_porn: On-line pseudonym
of Nathan Harlow.
Harrigan, Lewis (Leading Agent):
Member of the organised crime unit at the Richmond Regional Office.
Currently in charge of the case against crimelord Gerard Blank.
His partner is Hank Guthrie.
Harriman (Lieutenant): Military
policeman responsible for security at the National Radiological
Institute in Nevada. He checked in the agents on 9 August 2001.
See case BRB012.
Harris, Thomas: Stonemason who
works at the Irongates Military Cemetery in Joplin, Missouri. Assisted
the mid-west evidence response team in case JOP312.
Hart, Elijah (Doctor): San Francisco
pathologist who autopsied the body of Alex Long after it was discovered.
Contacted by Artemis Black on 8 December 2000, Hart agreed to send
copies of all his work to the agents in Casper. Hart is not a big
fan of Artemis Black's work, but asked for an autographed book anyway
for his daughter.
Hart, Lucy: Daughter of Dr Elijah
Hart, and big fan of the work of Artemis Black.
Hayes, Freddie: Security guard
who worked days at the Twin Valley Farm just outside Wichita, Kansas.
Hayes was examined by Jane Munroe on 10 January 2001 for evidence
of brain bug impregnation but was found to be clean.
Hayes, Rosie: Sixteenth victim
of Apache Joe, murdered in San Antonio, Texas on 21 March 1993.
See case S73.
Hayles, Charles "Chuck" (Doctor):
Doctor of History at UCLA and friend of Reginald Alton from his
Toronto days. See case BRB012.
Helen: Contact of the North-West
team during their case on Kodiak Island. Dirk Brunswick was convinced
she had the hots for him. Helen survived the carnage at the end
of the case.
Henderson, Janice: Friend and
colleague of Elaine Ross, and employee of the Copperhead Mine in
Casper, Wyoming. Elaine works in records and administration. Interviewed
by mid-west evidence response on 7 December 2000.
Henderson, Jay: Husband of Janice
Henderson. Works as an engineer on inter-state transport aircraft.
Henderson, Julia: Fifth victim
of Apache Joe, murdered in Amarillo, Texas on 30 April 1992. See
case S73.
Henries, David (Captain): Captain
in the 29th Precinct of the LAPD. Evidence response contact for
case LA10749. Met with the
midwest team on 13 December and told them about the death of Owen
Sawell.
Henry (Police Officer): Member
of the Pasadena police force sent to help the mid-west evidence
response team in their search of warehouses in the dock area on
12 October 2000. Entered the Coffee 4 Texas warehouse with Special
Agents Stone and Black and engaged in a gun fight by members of
Jesus Martinez's drugs gang. He survived.
Hernandez (Private): US army private
based at Fort James Cohen. Fell and broke his neck while climbing
a wall on the weekend of 3-4 February 2001. His corpse was bugged
by the mid-west evidence response team on 4 February 2001 in the
hope that it might lead them to the black necromancers. See case
JOP312.
Hernandez, Enriquo: Scared and
mostly innocent worker the warehouse belonging to drugs baron Jesus
Martinez. Aided the mid-west evidence response team in their investigation
of case BV004 on 14 October
2000.
Hernandez, Irene: Thirtieth victim
of Apache Joe, murdered in Lubbock, Texas on 11 November 1998. See
case S73.
Hernandez, Simon (Doctor): Scientist
who worked on the W-Bosun project at the National Radiological Institute
in Nevada. Following the theft of the main accelerator chamber he
moved back to academia. See case BRB012.
Hernandez-Brown, Dwight (Special Agent):
FBI agent from Brownsville, Texas. Contact of the mid-west evidence
response team on case BV004.
After the death of Nathan Harlow, Jane Munroe relied on Hernandez-Brown
to wrap up case BV004 in Brownsville.
Hernandez-Brown supervised the arresting of many witnesses and the
SWAT raid on Jesus Martinez's home.
Hicks, Jonathan: Student at Dallas
University. Rented accommodation with his friend Jeffrey Murray
and Josephine McKenna. He didn't know of McKenna's Wiccan activities
although he had met (and mocked) several members of the coven. He
thought Josephine was "too hot" to associate with the
likes of Giraffe Boy and the Fat Chicks. See case DL1034.
Hilderbrandt,
Paul (Special Agent): Gun-obsessed motorcycle-jockey and
member of the west coast evidence response team. His dead body was
discovered in an abandoned warehouse in Los Angeles in the early
hours of 13 December 2000 by officers Renton and Fernandez. He had
been shot five times and heavily beaten. See case LA10749.
Hoffa, Jimmy: Hoffa was the powerful
and controversial leader of the Teamsters Union from 1957 to 1971.
Often alleged to have ties to organised crime, Hoffa was finally
convicted of fraud and jury tampering in 1964 and served four years
in prison before his sentence was commuted by President Nixon. It
was after this that Hoffa was sucked into The Game as the blind-player
of Lillian Fall (Lillith). The Joker was murdered teamsters and
Hoffa was increasing in power. However, just like Brickman and Lenley
before him, Hoffa lost the game. In 1975, while trying to regain
power in the union, Hoffa disappeared from a restaurant parking
lot in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. He was widely assumed to have
been killed by the Mafia, although his fate was probably far more
sinister. Hoffa's body was never found, and in 1983 he was declared
legally dead. Hoffa was a direct antecedent of Artemis Black. See
case S89.
Hoffman, Christopher: Software
engineer, working on communications who has been based at Dynamicorp's
Think Tank in Winterset since January 2001. A member of the communications
team. See case TL348.
Holmes, Maria: Seventeen year
old resident of Eagle Pass, Texas. She lives in the same house as
her sister Liane; her cousin Lydia lives close by in Temple. All
three girls were deduced to be a potential victim of Apache Joe
by the mid-west evidence response team. But following the death
of the serial killer, Maria should hopefully be safe. See case S73.
Holmes, Liane: Twenty-two year
old resident of Eagle Pass, Texas. She lives in the same house as
her sister Maria; her cousin Lydia lives close by in Temple. All
three girls were deduced to be a potential victim of Apache Joe
by the mid-west evidence response team. But following the death
of the serial killer, Liane should hopefully be safe. See case S73.
Holmes, Lydia: Sixteen year old
resident of Temple, Texas. Her cousins Liane and Maria live in the
nearby Eagle Pass All three girls were deduced to be a potential
victim of Apache Joe by the mid-west evidence response team. But
following the death of the serial killer, Lydia should hopefully
be safe. See case S73.
Holt, Roy: Electronics engineer
who builds receivers, who has been based at Dynamicorp's Think Tank
in Winterset since January 2001. A member of the communications
team. See case TL348.
Hope, David: Campus cop based
at Dallas University who confirmed that the mid-west agents spent
the night of 8 April 2001 digging into the foundations of the campus
auditorium with a jackhammer.
Hopkins, Jerry: Physicist specialising
in quantum effects who has been based at Dynamicorp's Think Tank
in Winterset since April 2001. A member of the first materials team.
See case TL348.
Horu-Ur: In the prophecies
of Horus-Ra, the Horu-Ur is another name of the Signai.
Horus-Ra:
Name taken by the sentient computerised holographic utiltiy on the
Signai lifepod that crash-landed in Luxor. Quite mad, "Horus-Ra"
was considered a god by the locals and started spouting all manner
of prophecies. Eventually
the main ship (Marc Georgeson) had to shut him down. Horus-Ra is
known to have met the time travelling Alan Hamblin III.
Houston, Sam: President of Texas
in 1836. Reneged on concessions to the Cherokee made by Stephen
Austen. As a result Alfred Buck tail Jesse's vengeance cult are
hunting down all his descendents.
Howard, Bradley: Member of the
Westwood Charity who was questioned by Special Agent Nathan Trask
during his investigation of case WNT075.
It is likely that Howard was one of the people possessed by brain
bugs and subsequently killed by evidence response on 15 November
2000.
Howe, Helen: Twenty-fifth victim
of Apache Joe, murdered in Wichita Falls, Texas on 6 June 1997.
See case S73.
Huanoah: See Sharkbait.
Hudson, Valerie
(Special Agent): Associate of Eisenstein who has spent several
months on secondment to the NSA. Hudson is a psychic and is able
to foretell future events. The nearer the event is to the present,
the less accurate her visions are. It is believed that Valerie Hudson
is responsible for selecting which cases are based to the evidence
response teams. On 3 November 2000 Hudson predicted two potential
victims of the serial killer Apache Joe. She could reveal nothing
about the Joker of his innately supernatural nature. She aided the
team again on 22 December with many choice pieces of information,
but her abilities are in such demand that she is always on the move.
It was recently revealed that her powers exact a physcial toll on
her body, and that she is in need of a bone marrow transplant. Artemis
Black is the perfect match, revealing that they are distantly related.
Hudson sent the agents a top
secret document that categorised many of the supernatural elements
they face on a daily basis. It was eventually revealed that she
has a role abbreviated to CINCNTOPFOR (Commander-in-Chief, Non-Terrestial
Originating Phenomenon). She was responsible for putting Raphael's
name on the FBI's ten most wanted list. According to the time travelling
Alan Hamblin III, Hudson will eventually suffer a debilitating accident.
This prophecy seemed to come true on 20 June 2001. The psychic wave
that resulted from the escape of Samael severely curtailed Hudson's
powers. She can no longer see the future, only interpret the past.
But she was still able to help the mid-west agents interpret the
I-Ching book on 31 August 2001.
Hughes (Father): Apostolic vicar
and member of the Order of St George. Met with Benedcit Oaxaca in
the cathedral in New Orleans on 22 June 2001. Ben told this man
absolutely everything about evidence response at very little invitation.
Hughes wanted Ben to kill Jane in revenge for releasing Satan. Ben
didn't agree to do this, but he did join with Hughes and left for
an undisclosed location.
Hunt, Michael (Special Agent):
New identity given to Nathan Harlow when he was reincarnated into
the body of the 64-year old Hawaiian cahuna, Lehoaoah. See Nathan
Harlow's entry for more information. On 10 June 2001, the Michael
Hunt persona of Nathan was resurrected as a separate entity - along
with Nathan Harlow (aka Classic Harlow) and fit Harlow. It was revealed
that all three versions shared the same soul, and that one was a
formless spawn, one a demon and one the real McCoy. The psychic
wave following Samael's release revealed the Michael Hunt version
to be a formless spawn. See also: Nathan
Harlow Casefile.
Hume, Gareth: Aide to Nigel Huntingdon-Price,
and his lieutenant in NTOPFOR. On 12 May 2001, he delivered an invitation
for Jane and Justin to attend a ball at the British Consulate. He
was contacted by the mid-west team at various times on the different
versions of 4 June 2001, and arranged another meeting with Huntingdon-Price
(see case WK016),
although these events never actually happened. His mother's maiden
name may or may not be Wilmslow-Price. He arranged for Artemis Black
to meet his superior on 8 June 2001 and seems to have taken on a
role as liaison between NTOPFOR and evidence response.
Hunter, Carol (Special Agent):
FBI agent murdered by the serial killer Damian Snapes in October
1999. Hunter was posing as Snapes's latest victim in an operation
under the control of Artemis Black. Snapes changed his M.O. at the
last minute and murdered the agent. These are the events that led
to Black's assignment to evidence response. It has since been discovered
that Carol Hunter and Artemis Black share a maternal grandfather
in the shape of Alfred Brickman. It has also been deduced that the
reason Snapes changes his habits so radically was because he was
possessed by the Joker at the time.
Hunter, Lydia: Daughter of Alfred
Brickman and mother of Carol Hunter who still lives in Chicago.
She has forgiven Artemis for the part he played in the death of
her daughter. Mrs Hunter is ashamed of her father's conduct, and
was happy to help agents Black and Munroe on 22 January 2001, when
they wanted to obtain his effexts.
Huntingdon-Price, Nigel (Commodore):
The number two in NTOPFOR - an international strike force that responds
to the threat of supernatural beasties by locating, classifying
and terminating them. Huntingdon-Price summoned agents Jane Munroe
and Julian Turn to the British Consulate in New York on 13 May 2001.
He wanted to know if they had any information about something he
was tracking. He was also encountered during one of Ben's visions
of 4 June 2001, but nothing that happened on that day can be trusted.
Artemis Black had a full and frank discussion with Huntingon Price
on 8 June 2001, and formed a close working relationship between
NTOPFOR and evidence response. It was revealed that NTOPFOR had
a stake in cases BRB012,
S73, 0018-GCF
and CS1473-IND.
Huxley, Sharon: Twenty-seventh
victim of Apache Joe, murdered in Brewster, Texas on 2 February
1998. See case S73.
