Callaghan (Doctor): Scientist
working in enrichment and extraction at the National Radiological
Institute in Nevada. One of the scientists who was closest to Reginald
Alton, Callaghan confessed to not really knowing him that well at
all. See case BRB012.
Campbell-Robson,
Bruce (Special Agent): Originally encountered as a trainee
FBI agent hoping to graduate from Quantico in 2000, Bruce is actually
a construct of the enigmatic Yig sent
to the United States to gather information. Bruce is completely
unaware of this fact and believes himself born in 1974, in Odessa,
Texas where he has two younger sisters. Bruce spent four years with
the AFT before he transferred to Quantico, where he excelled in
the martial arts, but his academic record was appalling. Whether
he passed or failed his academy final year assessment was dependent
on the recommendation of the mid west evidence response team. He
worked with the mid-west evidence response team on case CS1473-IND,
where he demonstrated a surprising affinity for computers and an
unsurprising affinity for sniper rifles, C-4 and general mayhem.
However, his help was invaluable and the agents unanimously passed
him. Artemis Black recommended that Campbell-Robson be assigned
to the grey case files, and on 19 December Bruce was assigned to
the west coast team, and subsequently to the second mid-west team.
Over the months he has encountered may supernatural beasities, and
even gone into space. However, there is something strange about
Bruce. Artemis asked Valerie Hudson to look into it, and on 21 June
2001 she revealed his true origin. What Artemis does with that information
is anyone's guess, although it was inadvertantly revealed to his
team mates by the supercomputer, Memphisto, on 30 August 2001. Bruce
keeps an apartment outside evidence response HQ where he can manufacture
explosives in peace.
Carlson, Edward: Electronics engineer
specialising in micro-switches who has been based at Dynamicorp's
Think Tank in Winterset since April 2001. A member of the first
materials team. See case TL348.
Carter, Helen: Long term girlfriend
of Doctor Douglas Fairbanks, either in her late thirties or early
forties. Utterly devastated when Fairbanks split up with her and
very worried when he disappeared. See case NW988.
Carter, Leon: Room-mate of Newtridge
Hardy at Dallas University. Shared Newt's enthusiasm for computer
games and lack of personal hygiene, but knew nothing of witchcraft
or Veronica Cunningham. Interviewed by Benedict Oaxaca on 10 April
2001, where Leon revealed that he always carried a gun in case he
was attacked by Apache Joe. After Newt's beetle-related death, Leon
was sent to hospital to maintain the team's cover story. See case
DL1034.
Cartwright, Daniel: Arrested in
Austin, Texas by Benedict Oaxaca in January 1991 after a six month
undercover investigation into the illegal sex slavery of young Mexican
girls in exchange for US citizenship.
Case, Giles: Father of Thelma
Case. Given psychotropic drugs by Elizabeth Szymanski and later
shot and killed the fake Apache Joe, Constantine Perez on 13 December
2000. Giles has been arrested by the Texas authorities and awaits
trials. See case S73.
Case, Thelma: Thirty-first victim
of Apache Joe, murdered in Abilene, Texas on 1 January 1999. See
case S73.
Casey, Glen: Successful model
working for Calvin Klein. Used to date Katie Holmes, but they split
up when she was unable to cope with his insatiable sex drive (according
to OK magazine). Elise Steiger chanced upon Glen Casey at his apartment
at 1422 Waltham Street in Washington DC when working on case BRTS002.
The pair exchanged phone numbers. Sebastian Malkin seems to have
taken an instant dislike to the man despite having never met him.
Cassell, Chance: Ne'er-well maternal
grandfather of Jane Munroe who abdicated all responsibility for
Jane's mother as soon as was humanly possible. No member of the
Munroe family has ever met the man and he is assumed to be long
dead.
Cassie: Friend of Rachel Tierney
who also works at the lingerie boutique in the Brightstar mall.
Cassie had a drink with Rachel and Maria after work on 21 August
2001. See case BRTS002.
Cates, Bob (US Marshal): US Marshal
sent to look after Lois Renford following the death of her husband,
Jack. Cates fell under the domination of the Chuck Renford who was
being possessed by the spirit of Tic-Tac Loos. He was freed by the
mid-west evidence response team.
Chambers, Jessica: Administrator
and tour guide at Barton House in Winterset. Showed the agents around
on 30 April 2001. See case TL348.
Chan, Yo Yo: One of the four fathers
of the Twisted Way tried. He has been augmented by one of the four
jade pendants belonging to Mao Sei Ben and was one of the assailants
who killed the west coast evidence response team on 13 December
2000. He was killed by a stinger missile fired by Jane Munroe on
19 December 2000. This was not overkill.
Charlie (Police Officer): Member
of the Pasadena police force sent to help the mid-west evidence
response team in their search of warehouses in the dock area on
12 October 2000. Entered the Coffee 4 Texas warehouse with Special
Agents Stone and Black and was subsequently gunned down by members
of Jesus Martinez's drugs gang.
Chen, Hao: One of the four fathers
of the Twisted Way triad. Died in 1996. Mai Sei Ben brought a gift
to his funeral.
Church, Martha: Runs the only
guest house in Winterset, Iowa. She is a fabulous cook.
Clark (Corporal): US army doghandler
on security detail at the Irongates Military Cemetery in Joplin,
Missouri. His favourite dog is smiling killer called Rosie. He assisted
he investigations of the mid-west team into case JOP312.
Clifton, Ray (Doctor): Coroner,
ABBA fan and eater of other people's food. Talked to the mid-west
and north-east teams during their investigation of case NW988,
and gave them information on the disappearance and life of Doctor
Douglas Fairbanks.
Cloud-Dancer: Cherokee who was
embarking on his vision quest to find his totem animal when he was
plucked out of the ether by Alex Drake on 14 April 2001. Cloud-Dancer
was a little annoyed at this and demanded that Drake return his
totem animal and that Jane Munroe whipped up a batch of narcotics
as potent as the peyote that had send him on his vision quest in
the first place. This Jane duly did and Cloud-Dancer (along with
Drake) returned to the spirit world.
Cobb, Bruce (Special Agent): Worked
with special agent Elvis Schmichael on case BRTS002
before stone-walling forced the agents to turn it over to evidence
response. Interviewed by the mid-west team on 27 August 2001. Cobb
is short and fat
Cole (Doctor): Doctor at the Restful
Acres sanatorium outside Augusta, Maine. Cole is the doctor looking
after Stella Munroe (Jane's mother) after her nervous breakdown
at Christmas 2000.
Cole, Tony (Special Agent): Member
of the Critical Response unit based in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Encountered by the mid-west team during their investigation of case
FB563. It was Cole who seemed
the most friendly and showed the agents around.
Colefield, Mike (Special Agent):
Member of the Indian Country Unit from Brownsville, Texas. Contact
of the mid-west evidence response team on case BV004.
He aided Jane and Nathan in the rescue of Todd O'Connell on 13 December.
Colefield is a friend of Raoul Martinez and family (Raoul's daughter,
Juanita was Apache Joe's 26th victim), and had an axe to grind against
Vitrano and Lavin. He risked his life and career to help evidence
response and remains a valued ally. He joined the evidence response
teams in the operation that finally brought down Apache Joe on 1
January 2001. See cases S73 and
0018-GCF.
Coleman, Jonathan: Reporter for
Channel 12 in Los Angeles. Reported on the enormous "methane"
explosion in the city's sewers on 6 February 2001.
Coleman, Richard (Special Agent):
FBI agent based at Langley, Virginia and member of fraud division.
Coleman is a skilled accountant and member of FBI Chartered Accountants
Society - of which Benedict Oaxaca is the treasurer.
Conrad: Better known to Philip
McKraken as "Uncle Conrad". Conrad and Philip's Uncle
James helped arrange Philip's placement in the mid-west evidence
response team.
Cooper, Agatha: Skilled grief
counsellor who lives in Winterset, Iowa. Worked with Special Agent
Nathan Trask on case WNT075.
Questioned by Jane Munroe on 14 November 2000. Two days later Jane
returned and poured her heart out to Agatha.
Cooper, Simon: Security guard
who worked nights at the Twin Valley Farm just outside Wichita,
Kansas. Cooper was examined by Jane Munroe on 10 January 2001 for
evidence of brain bug impregnation but was found to be clean.
Costworth, Vicky (Cleaner): Cleaner
at Ho Fung's laundry in Wichita, Kansas. Allowed homeless people
into the laundry at night for warmth, and gave them unclaimed clothes.
Vicky sees herself as a "good Christian" and always tries
to do people a good turn.
Cox, Dy: Renowned psychologist
resident in Winterset, Iowa. She treated Richard Midden for his
disturbing dreams.
Cox, Elaine: Secretary who works
for Dynamicorp at their head office in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It appears
that her likeness has been used as the human interface for an artificially
intelligent computer system that runs the Mary Estate outside Casper,
Wyoming. Investigations are continuing.
Couvert: One of the partners of
McCollins, Gillette & Couvert - a Mississippi law firm
that employed Peter Ellis Dean in the 1960s. See case ES174.
The law firm was sold to Reginald White in 1981, but Couvert still
practices law in Mississippi.
Crispin (Lieutenant): Member of
the Wichita PD who informed agents Harlow and Burchill of Todd O'Connell's
death during the original version of 20 June 2001. The actions of
Samael meant this event never happened, and Crispin never met the
agents. However, he does still exist. Crispin is tall, wiry and
blonde.
Crondheim, Walter (Special Agent, retired):
Head investigator on the Apache Joe case (S73).
He interviewed Jane Munroe in the days following her escape from
Apache Joe in 1992. Crondheim managed to stay on the case for five
years due to political contacts. When he was finally removed in
1995 he had made the link between Apache Joe and old Texas Ranger
Stations. This information was passed to the new agents Vitrano
and Lavin, but they never did anything with it. This led Crondheim
to believe that Vitrano and his team had their own agenda and were
using S73 as a cover for something
else. Between 1995 and his retirement in 1999 Crondheim worked a
desk in Washington where he was responsible for updating the FBI
computer system. He put in a back door that allowed him access to
FBI files, so he could keep abreast of what was going on. After
he retired, Crondheim moves to Fairbanks, Alaska where he still
lives. On 10 December 2000 he was interviewed by Jane Munroe and
told her his fears regarding Vitrano. He tipped the team off to
a potential blackmail attempt against Artemis Black on 27 December
2000, and joined the evidence response teams in Texas the following
month in an operation to stop Apache Joe once and for all. He was
contacted by Artemis Black on 5 June 2001 and asked to look into
the background of Special Agent Emily Ashamiko whom Artemis suspects
is a mole.
Crum, Elizabeth (Leading Agent):
Evidence response contact for case FB563.
Based in Richmond, Virginia. A severe looking woman with grey hair
tied back tightly into a bun, Crum disapproved at the length of
time it took the mid-west team to take up the case. She briefed
agents Munroe and Drake on 18 May 2001, when she revealed she was
a key holder for the vault in Fredericksburg.
Cruz, Isidoro Gonzalez: Ageing
Mexican demon-hunter arrested by Benedict Oaxaca in September 1994
for stealing Zapatec artefacts. After Benedict became suspicious
that a series of brutal killings were the work of the creature Cruz
was hunting, he released the old man from custody, gave him the
artefacts he had previously stolen and worked with him to bring
the demon down. Benedict was reprimanded, Cruz himself is still
at large. On 4 June 2001, it was revealed that Cruz had actually
been working for the international organisation, NTOPFOR. He was
forbidden from revealing this to Benedict at the time.
Cummings,
Alan (Assistant Special Agent in Charge): Military veteran
and head of the west coast evidence response team for seven years
before his murder. His body was found in an abandoned warehouse
in Los Angeles on 13 December 2000 by police offices Renton and
Fernandez. He had been shot twice in the head and once in the leg.
See case LA10749.
Cummings, Megan: Six year old
daughter of the late Alan Cummings.
Cummings, Rosie: Four year old
daughter of the late Alan Cummings.
Cunningham, Paul (Leading Agent):
Head of the High Threat Response team, and therefore senior to most
FBI agents (including Eisenstein). After discovering that his wife,
Veronica, was having an affair with Joshua Blackthorne he saw to
it that Joshua was shunted into evidence response. He was present
when his wife petrified Blackthorne on 12 December 2000, and took
exception to Jane Munroe holding a gun to his wife's head. However,
it is not known whether he was privy to Veronica's plan or bamboozled
by Josephine McKenna's magic. After his wife's death on 16 March
2001, Cunningham took an extended leave from the FBI. His current
whereabouts are unknown..
Cunningham,
Veronica 'Ronnie': A powerful witch, Veronica worked as a
senior administrator at the University of Dallas where she led a
coven consisting of Josephine McKenna, Newtridge Hardy, Veronica
Suzanne, Colleen Williams Louise Milton and Jane West. Veronica
was married to Leading Agent Paul Cunningham of the High Threat
response team, but she had an affair with Joshua Blackthorne (at
the time Joshua was splitting up with his own wife). The affair
ended when Paul found out, and he used his influence to move Josh
to the mid-west evidence response team. Unfortunately, Veronica
had fallen pregnant and in order to retain her power she needed
the baby and the father of the baby as her husband. She arranged
for Josh to come to Dallas on 12 December 2000 and tried to rekindle
their relationship. Josh rejected her and she resorted to her complicated
back-up of revenge that resulted in the agent's petrification. She
refused to reverse this effect despite having a gun put to her head,
and had to be released because of husband's influence. Soon after
this, she had an abortion. Veronica became obsessed with tracking
down Josephine McKenna who abandoned the coven after Joshua's petrification.
She did not find her during her lifetime however, as she was killed
in a car accident engineered by Eisenstein and Artemis Black in
the vain hope that her death would restore Josh. It didn't. Veronica
returned as a ghost and quickly located and possessed McKenna, but
was then unlucky enough to be arrested. This brought her into contact
with the mid-west team again, that she held responsible for her
death. Masquerading as McKenna, Veronica restored Joshua Blackthorne
but shortly afterward McKenna regained control. Veronica and McKenna
battled for control of her body resulting in the destruction of
both their spirits on 15 April 2001. See case DL1034.
Curry (Mrs): Mother of Marvin
and cook at the tourist retreat at Devil's Lake in North Dakota.
Encountered by evidence response on 16 November 2000.
Curry, Marvin: Receptionist, handy-man
and all round gopher at the tourist retreat at Devil's Lake in North
Dakota. Encountered by evidence response on 16 November 2000.
Czvbak, Dobromil: Head of the
Polish Mafia in Newark. Employed Peter Dubieniec to assassinate
Rustam Bezushko.
