Saturday, 2 December 2000 (continued)

A helicopter carrying Joshua Blackthorne arrives on Kahoolawe. Josh is under the impression he in on holiday until Jane appraises him of all the events in the last few days. He takes the news badly. As Josh, Black, Oaxaca, Sharkbait and the Stones head up the mountain to see if they can find the remains of Elise, Jane takes matters into her own hands and telephones Nathan Harlow.

Jane tells Nathan that Lehoaoha's body is bereft of its spirit and that Nathan could possess it. A grateful Nathan rushes to the hospital. On the spirit plane he sees an evil looking spirit waiting to occupy Lehoaoha's vacant body. He shoots the spirit decorporealising it, and jumps into the void. Nathan wakes up in Lehoaoha's body he has returned to the land of the living!

Nathan causes a terrible stir in the hospital as it was thought Lehoaoha would never come out of his coma. Plus, the cahuna could not speak English and Nathan can only speak English. After speaking with the doctor, Nathan calls Jane and gives her the news. Jane is thrilled.

Earl Jameson of the AF&T contacts Elijah Stone with news that the Cahuna has woken up. After the call Jane explains the situation to Artemis and Josh. Artemis takes the news of Harlow's return in his stride, but Josh is utterly shocked and (once again) in denial. Jane asks that one of the Stones accompany her to the hospital in Maui. A Stone is selected at random for the task.

The rest of the group remaining on Kahoolawe manage to recover Elise's right foot. It is all that is left of her. At Artemis's suggestion they decide to get Sharkbait to summon some of the life sparks. Artemis hopes the life sparks might know some way to reverse what happened to Stone. Unfortunately, Sharkbait intones the ritual incorrectly, and although he summons the life sparks he also starts a volcanic eruption. The agents flee the island. Benedict Oaxaca puts his foot into some lava and very nearly loses it (fortunately he is wearing his protective suit). They all make it to waiting Chinook before it leaves apart from Josh who has to jump and catch hold. Benedict pulls him on board. Kahoolawe erupts in flame.

Meanwhile Jane has told the Stone that is with her that Lehoaoha is actually a reincarnated Harlow. Stone doesn't believe her, and believes there is some conspiracy to deceive him. They meet up with Jameson and go to the hospital. After Jameson has gone, Stone attacks Harlow because he doesn't believe the truth and Jane pulls her gun on him. Eventually the matter is defused. Josh is sent for and he confirms information from Harlow's background that Lehoaoha could not possibly know. Everyone is still suspicious, but Harlow is discharged and taken back onto the team. Lehoaoha's medical expenses of $3200 and fine from the AFT and $1200 are covered by evidence response.

Leaving the hospital the agents run into Sharkbait who realises that another spirit is possessing Lehoaoha's body. Sharkbait says that this is really bad. The spirit of the old cahuna may still exist and will haunt Harlow. Joshua takes Jane to task for arranging this. He tells Jane that she is interfering with forces she cannot possibly understand. Jane tells him that too many people she cares about have died recently. She missed Nathan and she is glad to have him back - even if he is now a 64 year old Hawaiian.

At the hotel Artemis has sent a long report to Eisenstein about the Stones and Harlow with an appeal for advice. Oaxaca has gone to hospital to get his foot seen to. Josh, Jane, Artemis and the all-new, all-different Harlow enjoy a few drinks.

Sunday, 3 December 2000

An email arrives from Eisenstein agreeing with Black's assessment of the matter. All thirty Stones will be given new Christian names and assigned to different jobs in the FBI. One Stone will remain with Evidence Response. The group has fun deciding on lots of new names for Stone. The Stone who remains with Evidence Response is the one who accompanied Jane to the hospital because he, at least, has accepted the situation with Harlow. The group name him Quentin Stone.

Harlow gets a new badge and identity. From now on he is Special Agent Michael Hunt (proving that even Eisenstein has a sense of humour). News reaches the agents that Wendell Wells has been removed from hospital. Everyone hopes that they won't see him again. The agents and all the Stones leave Hawaii.

Monday, 4 December 2000

Artemis Black visits Elise Steiger's parents in Montana and breaks the bad news. Both the parents and the grandparents are present. Although the parents (Robert and Judith) and the grandmother (Janet) are utterly devastated the grandfather (Richard) seems more relieved that upset. Black quizzes him about his feeling but gets fobbed off. Black remembers Elise's family tree that was obtained from Chris Walcott. For as many generations as the Walcott researched there have only been male heirs. Very peculiar, but in the present circumstances Black sees no need to pursue this mystery.
