Hamblin's Hieroglyphs

Translations

Over the following months, several agents took a stab at interpreting the prophecies. However, it was not until 6 June 2001 that they discovered the truth. Horus-Ra was not a god. He was the sentient holographic utility of the Signai lifepod that crash-landed in Luxor. He had been driven mad by events and set himself up as a deity, devising this prophecy to explain the past and wish for the future. As the super-computer from the original Signai vessel, Marc Georgeson, knew exactly what Horus-Ra was on about.

The Truth

As explained, Horus-Ra is the holographic utility controlling one of the downed Signai life-pods. The "Horu-Ur" is its term for the Signai.

In the beginning there was nothing on the Earth except for dinosaurs and demons. Then the Second (the angels) arrived and started a war with the demons. This great war, known as "The First War", was so violent that it shook five of the multidimensional planes, and its effects were felt as far as the seventh. The war raged for millions of years and was coincident with much of the Mesozoic era. Eventually, the angels struck against their greatest foe. They threw an enormous asteroid at the earth, that created a massive crater that is currently the Gulf of Mexico. The foe was forced back to its own plane. This asteroid was also how the cthonians and formless spawn came to Earth. The impact caused by the asteroid started the ice age. But this was not the end. The demons, the angels and those forces that had been changed or augmented during the war ("The Different") manoeuvred for power. But the great blow from the angels had ended much resistance on Earth, and the war moved into another dimension.

Earth was left alone, and the Egyptian Gods ("Chosen of our fathers") gained power. The continuing war caused the ties between dimensions to grow weaker. The most distant dimensions (the tenth and eleventh) were completely lost. Mankind, the angels, the disparate creatures the angels had chosen to fight for them ("Less than Second") and those who had been changed by the First War, were left behind. God had been lost with the missing dimensions, and so those left behind gained more power and had less responsibility (i.e. they became more and less than they were). Then the Signai ("the first children") arrived on Earth in their spaceships. They interbred with the local human population creating the "second children". The Signi (or rather the followers of Horus-Ra) are waiting for the return of Iesis. Iesis was the name of the flagship of the Signai fleet that was fleeing the brain bugs. Horus-Ra predicts the events that will need to happen before Iesis can return:

Faster-than-light travel will have to be attained ("the waves of time will fail"); the scout ships that precede Isesis will arrive ("fathers first will walk with fathers lost"); magic will seem to fail ("the fifth will seem to fail" - magic is often known as the fifth element); the angels must fail in their goals ("if the seventh bureaucracy succeeds, we fall").

Benedict Oaxaca's Interpretation

These are Benedict's original thoughts from January 2001, and do not take into account any of the subsequent deductions of the mid-west team, or the revelations that came from their conversations with the Archangel Raphael. Events forced the agents to put these translations to one side for several months.

"To me this describes earth as a Hell. Beasts and evil. The Second's coming (Oh great!) led to a massive battle, after which the earth settled and the Second chose humans to become the dominant race. The Second obviously had an army (it may represent a race), some of whom were left behind as the borders / intersections between each of the worlds grew further apart. These remaining 'seconds' (the left-overs) evolved to suit the surroundings gaining strength in some aspects whilst losing abilities elsewhere. Still however they hope to get 'home'.

"There are only three characters I do not have a definite translation for. Naturally these fall in the names of the author and the race he is describing. Horus was the son of Osiris and Isis. Often depicted as the god of the sky. Isis was the most important goddess representing motherhood, fertility and Life. Osiris ruled vegetation and the underworld (king of the dead).

"The ancient Egyptian pharaohs were considered to be the Living Horus and Horus was considered to be the prototype of and earthly king. Horus's enemy was Set."

Alex Drake's Interpretation

Alex came up with this interpretation of the hieroglyphs following the visit by the time travelling Hamblin on 23 May 2001, and the second encounter with the Archangel Raphael. It was at this point the mid-west team gained a renewed interest in the hieroglyphs. Alex defined the following words in the text as follows:

• Horus-Ra: A Horu-Ur prophet / historian
• Horu-Ur: Who we call the Signai, their first colony was the planet Signai
• Evil: Who we call the brainbugs / puppeteers
• Different: humans
• The Heavens: A ruling council of the eleven major bloodlines of the Horu-Ur

In the beginning, earth was undeveloped with dinosours and humans under the influence of brainbugs. The Second came and started a war with the brainbugs. Five of the heavens thought it was a bad idea. The earth was nuked by the second from high orbit, huge dust clouds rose blocking out the sun causing an ice age. The brainbugs, early humans and the Second manoeuvred. The brainbugs went into hiding, the Different just about survived and the second took place as dominant. Everything calmed down on earth. The brainbugs fought back against the fifth (elsewhere), now fighting against nine of the council, the first time the brainbugs have been actively fighting against this many of the Horu-ur bloodlines.

The population of earth grew, the chosen of the second rose. The links between the colonies of the Horu-Ur grew weaker, the 10th and 11th were lost (presumably by brainbug attack). The second's, the second/human crosbreeds and the humans were left behind, isolated. The genes from the second spread wide but got diluted.Then the first children arrived (life pod one, survivors of Signai) and took leadership from the Second. Then the second children arrived (life pod two, last of the Second's bloodline) and the first and second merged to become one bloodline. They now wait for Iesis (supreme ruler of the Horu-Ur?) to come and rescue them where they will be taken home and judged/punished for their deeds.

The following is the signs of the return: The waves of time will fail - the timeline gets screwed up somewhere? Fathers first will walk with fathers lost - the survivors of the First blodline meeting with those of the Second bloodline first war will mirror The First war - yet to happen, presumably the brainbug invasion due in 5 years, 2 months, 14 days, .. from now [17 July 2006]. The fifth will seem to fail - The fifth colony will appear to be wiped out but somehow survive? And if the seventh bureaucracy succeeds we fall - The Seventh colony enters some kind of deal with the brainbugs. If the deal gets done the Horu-Ur are stuffed.

Other random thoughts: The brainbugs and the Horu-Ur are/were both galactic superpowers that once held a fragile peace. The brainbugs began colonisation of earth which sparked a war when the Horu-Ur noticed, presumably due to some treaty violation.
