The Brief

The bodies of the West Coast Evidence Response team were discovered in an abandoned warehouse in Los Angeles. They had suffered multiple gun shot wounds and blunt force trauma. At the time of their deaths the team was investigating case 0015-GCF. This case was passed to evidence response on 13 December 2000.

The mid-west evidence response team began work on this very personal case on 13 December 2000. Their contact in the first instance was A. Jack Eisenstein. The following is the agents' understanding of what transpired.

The Facts

On 5 October 1995 the west coast evidence response team started work on case SF211. They discovered a ghost named Plum Blossom that had been bound to a mirror by the ancient Chinese geomancer, Mao Sei Ben. They also discovered a jade pendant made by Mao Sei Ben circa 500 BC. When they heard that Mao Sei Ben had entered the United States in 1996 they opened case 0008-GCF to keep an eye on him.

After several investigations using a contact with the San Francisco Yakuza called Madama Zenbuki they discovered a great deal about Mao Sei Ben and realised they didn't have the power to stop him. They had two things on their side: a book of mysterious computer code that looked like I-Ching and the mirror ghost. Plum Blossom was a powerful sorceress who desired vengeance against Mao Sei Ben. If she were released then she would seek vengeance against him. However, because Plum Blossom was utterly unpredictable this was a matter of the last resort.

Knowing that Mao Sei Ben would never attack them at their headquarters, the team moved the mirror to an abandoned warehouse outside Los Angeles to lay a trap for Mao Sei Ben. On 16 December 2000 the team went there to lay a trap for him, but they underestimated the speed and power of the sorcerer and his henchmen. Before they could use the "I-Ching" book or break the mirror Mao Sei Ben and the pendant-enhanced fathers of the Twisted Way Triad (Fu Pi, Hushen Zeinshen and Yo Yo Chan) killed all six of them.

The mid-west team eventually came to the same conclusion as their predecessors and used much the same plan that was employed by Cummings and his team. However, they ambushed Mao and his followers with significantly more firepower and were successful. The means and reasons surrounding the defeat of Mao Sei Ben have been chronicled in the casefile for 0008-GCF and SF211.
