The Brief

At 03:55 on 2 October 2000 a number of native american artefacts were reported stolen from a bonded warehouse in Brownsville, Texas. The investigating officers gave the case only a cursory examination before passing it to evidence response.

The mid-west evidence response team began work on this case on 10 October 2000. Their contacts were Special Agent Mike Colefield (of the Indian Country Unit), Special Agent Dwight Hernandez-Brown (of the local FBI) and Sheriff Gerard Blackfeather (local law enforcement). The following is the agents' understanding of what actually transpired.

The Facts

Columbian drugs baron Ramirez wanted to get his hands on native american artefacts. He arranged through his drug-dealing cousin, Jesus Ramirez, a means to take artefacts from a bonded warehouse in Brownsville and smuggle them across the border to his home. Through bribery and intimidation Jesus Martinez co-opted the assistance of Lewis Sneddon-Small, Clive Fenner and Terri Madison in this endeavour. The testimy of Lewis Sneddon-Small and Terri Madison (and her lawyer Victor Price) completely breaks this smuggling ring. The seizure of $10,000,000 dollars in drugs from Martinez's warehouse in Pasadena probably puts a sizeable dent in the drugs ring too.

Enrique Solomones was a die-hard Cheroke who worked as driver for Clive Fenner. The agents do not believe he would have condoned taking native american artefacts out of the country. He had a different agenda that was not connected to that of Ramirez. He used an Indian ceremonial rod to try and summon a Vengeance Spirit (perhaps to strike Fenner), but he was unsuccessful because the spirit had already been summoned. The stress of the attempt killed him.

The only artefact not recovered or accounted for is the enormous clay slab with the painting of the native american tribe upon it. This is probably in the hands of Ramirez in Columbia.

Unanswered Questions

  • Why did Ramirez want these artefacts? Is he just an art collector or is there something more sinister going on?
  • If the Vengeance Spirit was already summoned when Solomones began his ritual, then who summoned it? What do they intend to do with it?
  • Could the cult led by Alfred Bucktail Jesse be the ones responsible for summoning this spirit? Will they use it to attack the descendents of Sam Houston?
  • What is the relevence of the song that Solomones kept singing to himself?
  • Words from this song (the male part) were spliced into the video footage at the warehouse. How was this done? Did Solomones do it? Why?
  • Was Solomones acting alone? Is there any link between him and Joseph Tawl who was another driver of Fenner's who was shot by Jesus Martinez for taking something from the truck that didn't belong to him?
