The Brief

Between 1 and 4 October 2000 a field of genetically modified maize belonging to the Department of Agriculture was vandalised. The field is one of seven owned by the Department on the farm of Neil Prentice of Clayton, Idaho. The damage took the form of a crop circle.

The mid-west evidence response team began work on this case on 7 October 2000. The following is the agents' understanding of what actually transpired.

The Facts

Michael Levin, working with a covert team within the Department of Agriculture, was using the fields at the Prentice farm to a develop maize that was deadly to the brain bugs. It is possible that the bugs Prentice was checking for were actually brain bugs.

Unfortunately for Levin (and the Prentices), the brain bugs got wind of this plan and decided to destroy the farm. We now know that the Brain Bugs (or Signai) are extraterrestial creatures and the crop circle was created when they landed one of their craft in the field, creating a crop cicle. They then proceeded to possess the entire Prentice family. Because of the Brain Bug's aversion to daylight, they were not active when agents Harlow and Munroe arrived at the farm, and the Prentices behaved normally. It was only after dark that the bugs took control.

The brain bugs, controlling the Prentice family attempted to kill Harlow and Munroe, and destroy the farm. The failed in the former, but largely succeeded in the latter. The storm might have been caused by the brain bug's aircraft located somewhere in the vicinity affecting local weather conditions. The shower of shooting stars witnessed by Harlow and Munroe could well have been the aircraft coming to collect the surviving brian bugs and heir hosts. The only bodies that were recovered were of the members of the Prentice family we saw to die.

The presence of a dead body of John Prentice and green mist in the grain silo proves that the maize was effective in killing the brain bugs. John Prentice probably stumbled into the silo and inhaled the dust from the crop in the air. When the brain bug left his body he fell unconscious as the child, Milo did. Unfortunately, he fell unconscious face down in the maize and subsequently suffocated.

With the destruction of the farm and nine suspected deaths this case was removed from the purview of the evidence response team. It is currently being investigated by a team of FBI agents based in Boise, Idaho. The leading agent is Vanessa Tatum.

Unanswered Questions

  • What was the goal of the brain bugs in this instance? Why destroy the farm when they could have just attempted to possess Munroe and Harlow?
  • What other fields do the Department of Agriculture control? Have they had similar problems with Brain Bugs at these locations?
  • How was Tatum's investigation concluded? Was it concluded?
