Game Rule Information
The following changes have been made to the powers and abilities
of the Elf. Any published rules for the elf that do not directly
contradict the contents of this page still apply.
Racial Traits
Weapon Proficiency: All elves gain the following bonus feats:
Weapon Group (Bows), Weapon Group (Light Blades), Weapon Group (Heavy
Blades). See the section on Weapon
Group Feats for details of new rules for weapon proficiencies.
Automatic Languages: The elf automatically knows how to
speak Common and Elven, or any two campaign-specific languages of
the GM's discretion. The elf may select a number of additional languages
or alphabets equal to his intelligence modifier. Additional languages
may be purchased with skill-points. See the new rules for Languages
for more information.
Favoured Class: I do not use the rules for favoured classes.
Please disregard any rules pertaining to them.
Immortality: Elves have a celestial heritage, they are therefore
immortal. Once they reach adulthood they show no visible signs of
ageing and they will not die of natural causes. They may be killed
by violence or disease. Elves receive the bonuses to Intelligence,
Wisdom and Charisma from ageing (see PHB p109), but they
do not take the commensurate penalties to their physical stats.
Usually elves tire of the mortal world at some point before they
reach 750 years of age. At this stage the elven goddess Senhanine
appears to the elf and leads him to the enchanted land of Arvandor
where he will continue to live without fear of death for all time.
An elf can only pass to Arvandor with Senhanine's guidance, and
only then when certain preparations for the journey are made. An
elf who dies through disease, poisoning or violence is damned. The
elf's spirit rises from its body and hunts for a way to paradise.
This quickly drives the elf utterly insane. Elves cannot be resurrected
by any magical means including a Wish, Miracle and
epic magic. For this reason elves fear violent death more than other
races, and consider the murder of an elf to be a far more ghastly
crime than the murder of any other living thing.
